Some Interesting Books --- Worth Reading! !

Our rulers will sell this country to the highest bidder, be it the Americans, Chinese or the Saudis. They do not possess any intellect, honor, courage and foresight whatsoever. The masses are proving to be pretty easy to fool for them. People will only realize when it will be too late. People think that China is their chum but they are unaware of the fact that how this business minded nation has been exploiting the natural resources of many African countries...
True. The average person is too easily manipulated by the corrupt elements of our society, but this is also due to the spiritual corruption within the people themselves. The little man is doing his part in cheating his fellow citizens in little ways while the Politicians are doing it on a larger scale.

Yeah, China is the new colonizer of Africa. The Chinese are hardcore capitalists. They're taking African resources and flooding them with cheap Chinese consumer goods in return. Most of the jobs created by the Chinese in Africa are filled with Chinese workers because the local Africans lack the qualifications and skills. Not only are the Chinese taking African resources but they're also taking African women

But wait, they didn't stop with that, they're also destroying African fishing industry by eating all of the local fish

They will eat anything and everything, and they kill the animals in the cruelest ways

I read this a few years ago, a very detailed account of the Afghan war

Bones of the Hills:

If you read this work of fiction---it will give you an idea how ruthlessly efficient Chengis Khan was---his brutal no holds barred justice system---order int he society at all costs and then the imposition of the rule of law---.

You will also find---that after the invasion ended---people were not bothered---everyone was allowed to follow their religion---and it was a great time for traders---because there was peace from russia to china to the middle east---caravans did not have to fear looters.

And you will also learn about the original setup of fastrak messaging---The Yam Riders---.

That's weird. Works fine for me. In that case you can read a review of the book here (that was the only pdf link for the book).
About time someone challenged the "liberties".

That is one hell of a post...However, our rulers are anything but observant.

These Africans let the Chinese milk their country dry in exchange for paper yuans, and then they buy the Chinese goods using the same money. Chinese are literally plundering those Africans. We have also opened the floodgates in the shape of CPEC.

That is how nations are colonized these days.

The Chinese are smart negotiators. I have no doubt that they were seeking the most bang for their buck from the CPEC deal and most likely got it too. However knowing Pakistani Politicians they probably were only concerned about filling their own pockets from the deal, as they always do. I'm all for working with the Chinese and building strong alliances that will immensely benefit Pakistan but we have to do it with the right approach and with the right negotiators, and not crooks.

Since we're on the topic of Chinese economic colonization of Africa, this is an interesting documentary called Empire of Dust, here's the trailer for it:

I've heard of that book but never read it. Will look into it when I get the chance.

Watched that documentary last year I think when a friend passed it on. Has some interesting insights on both sides of the argument.

I am somewhat troubled by Pakistan taking on Chinese loans basically when Pakistan own Gross Capital Formation is around 15% (very low for even Pakistan's level of economic development). If Pakistan was in the say mid 20s or higher already (and holding steady/increasing), there will at least be some strong competition and organic domestic oversight w.r.t CPEC and other loan based capacity projects....and a base to help finance/hedge any future expansions/injections.

Combine with the somewhat vulnerable Pakistan domestic institutions (govt and financial), there could be quite some pain for Pakistan in future. Its a sensitive subject on this forum (and I already trod on quite a few toes already) so I guess lets wait and see what unfolds in the end.

We will have to pay China 90billion USD in the next 30 years (CPEC loans)
As told by @Desert Fox our local industry will face annihilation in the face of cheap Chinese products. It had started to happen long before the CPEC was initiated, many of our industries were shut down as cheaper Chinese goods made it into the market. As per Dawn leaks II, China plans to make Pakistan an agrarian state.

A businessman only thinks about his own profit and nothing else after all (applies to both China and PM Nawaz)

Apart from CPEC, our rulers have strangled us in foreign and domestic debts. 79 billion USD (117,000PKR per citizen)...
Loans taken by the successive governments from the local privately owned banks(owned by the buddies of our rulers) are also very enormous. It's our money in those banks which the govt loans from the banks and then the same govt imposes tax on the public in the name of getting rid of that debt and we know where all of our tax money goes...in Swiss accounts...In short, it is a scam...Why take loans in the first place which you can't repay?
And to those @ssholes on this forum who say that Pakistanis don't pay taxes...Yes many filthy rich don't pay taxes but the govt has imposed tax on every single thing imaginable...even for the underwear which you purchase from the store, the govt gets it's cut...The govt is extorting the ordinary man, there should not be so many different kinds of taxes at all.
The govt then takes further loans, impose further taxes and builds a motorway and then brags about it as if they built it from their own pockets.
