It was indeed amateur. For a coup, first you find and arrest head of government, shut down all internet, phones, and media, then reinstate a new government, this one was a pretty amateur attempt.

But whether this was an inside job by Erdogan, would he go that far? I mean, many will be tried and punished for this, who accepts that for an inside job?

well the other way to do it, if the head of govts are not in the capital, so the start was correct but execution was slow
