Then sir you have been practically been sleeping through every major conflict of our times and have really poor knowledge of human history great powers or group of nations have always supported agenda that is more in line with their ideals and thinking or liking perhaps i guess Cold war was pretty much nothing but difference of ideologies american and russians didn't had any historical linkages or let alone rivalries so turkish army is a proponent and believer in secularism which is a core believe in free democratic society then of course we will support them unlike pakistan where army is the official supporter and protector of terrorists and operator of extremists schools which had practically destroyed pakistani secular fabric and converted into a haven for extremists and terrorists so yes we will not support them at least unless when we have no other option.
so there is no double standards its always a given we will favour who thinks like us and always a preservation of self interest and if whole world listens to west and agrees with them then i guess what we think is right or acceptable by majority of global populace including ourselves now if hypothetically you can get the world to agree on a jehadi terrorist supporting army or a communist regime to rule a country then bravo to you sir.

The Turkish people are the key. I agree with you. This will have a bad ending for this group of army personnel.

If they broke chain of command then this coup is already inefficient. There are going to be fissures. Professional Armies do not take their Chief hostage.

That is why elections exist, not military coups. This military takeover should be rebuked.

For all friends, who wonder what's happen in Turkey. I'm from Turkey and Turkish myself. Have a lots of friends in military and police forces too, so i got decent feedback for this topic.

The thing is "Some" army element tried to attemp co'up, not all. This is the important part, cause when Turkish army striked on previous co'up everything ended in half of the day. First rebel element took two bridges and national channel and claimed to they took to control, alas special police forces and military took action against the rebels.

President Erdoğan was on Holiday in Bodrum so he's safe and sound, he also make a announcement, after that captured national channel has raided in-fight still on progress.

I always on politic matters so i can easily say, Erdoğan has immersive support nearly %50-55 alas due to recent events his support dropping a bit. He's too harsh to his people and Turkey divided to two groups, one side fanatic to Erdoğan and other side supporting to free rights.

Another thing is we took to most syrian refugees and our economy is starting to shaking, our syrian brothers has top-notch camps and if they want to live in cities they got immerse support from government. Free healthcare, exam-free university, money support, rent support and much more. Which is not unavailable for Turks atm, so there's a tension between some faction.

Also let's not forget, Turks are claimed their independence by fighting against the allied forces in Freedom War, to us fleeing the country is utmost shame and every Turk man and women must fight for every inch of Turkish soil. So we're sympatic to Syrian brothers but in the same time we're not looking kindly to their action, also recently our Turkmen brothers who's fighting against armenians leaved their "children and eldery" to our borders and return to fight with their country.

So yeah. Everything is under control in Turkey, this Co'up attempt probably tied with Fetullah Gulen which was close allies with Erdoğan few years ago but after the power struggle between them, they became mortal enemy.
