Slaughter ban prompts livestock prices to nosedive

In any case, sorry to know that your cattle trade got hit(I am assuming this). This won't be implemented all over India. Your cow butcher farms will probably have to shift to some other adjacent state.

Good luck.

We are happy that our local cooperatives got cows worth 50k for around 40k this weekend. This will again go up slightly because many are being sold off to other states for slaughter.

LOLLLLLLLLLLL, neither I or Balu Thackeray's family have any cattle. We are the smarter farmers in the area who own tractors just like our neighbors Sharadrao or Nitinbhau does. We are not likely to hit any debt trap or have to commit suicide. :)

Its the poor dumbasses who own cattle who will end up looking up the proverbial "$h1t-creek" thanks to their Govt. Then after that if they feel inclined to...... they will kick their Govt. out at the next hustings....... or remain resigned to their dismal fate. Of course some of them may not even be around at the next elections like some of the unfortunates in Vidharbha.

As for me.... I'll still be around and have the option to vote for whoever I want to..... including the ubiquitous "Mr.NOTA". :D

the price of cattle will go down too.I think poor farmers will able to buy cows now and the milk will be cheaper. This is good deal overall and this will initially be tough but with time this will come in habbit

You seem to have serious "comprehension problems" like our friend Mr. @SarthakGanguly, the issue is about old weak and emaciated cows; they can neither do any work nor give milk! They will need to be fed till they die.
Sarthak has my sympathies if he thinks that he is going to use these cheap cattle in his milk co-operative!!

.
@Capt.Popeye you should be fine as long as spinach price is under control. Cattle traders can send their livestocks to our eastern border. Bootleggers will be waiting there with hard cash! :D

.
But problem is the expense for feeding these unproductive items still remain high.Without any income how can they feed these poor old animals that is not even good for agri business. If govt has any plan to take the responsibility of these poor animals it will be Ok.

Otherwise I am fearing this will backfire in big time .

@SpArK.

You are mistaken. Price of all cattle has gone down. Older cattle has gone down more, but in general - all.

I could'nt care less...... And some of the Cattle may never even make it that far....... to that border; so they can be turned into chappals along the way; while the meat and bones can be dumped into the nearest river. No big deal to it.

Market prices are printed in local newspapers. So why not get me a price comparison.

Just let him be, he is talking through his hat! He thinks that it happens like buying and selling "aloo-pyaaz".

The farmers from Vidarbha and other impoverished areas can now buy cows cheap for tilling the land.
Cow cooperatives can be made with much less funds and the return on investment will be much much greater.
I have no intention nor any headache with what Indians do with their cows. Only your comment caught my intention and forced me to ask you a simple fact.

As i have understanding, that whatever we own like Cattle, land, agriculture produce, Gold, or any other commodity. If its prices are dropped, we became poorer. How do you claim that Farmers will become richer with falling prices of cows?

Is it a new economics based on Vedic Era teachings?

It is not the price of the cow which matters, but the utility of the cow. It is just like owning gold. High or low, business goes on. They value it on stock level, not price.

Bhai, you inventory or holdings tell you your net worth. Economics ni parhi kya?
Does the cost of raising a cow will go down as well?

Sir, Farmers sell this in time of need. They also do barter trading with these. Have you ever been to a village?

Yes, sir I have been to villages. Very few farmers sell their cattle and the primary purpose of buying a cattle is not for selling it, but using it. Our villagers except a few are not so hard up either. Plus the govt extends all kind of agriculture loans at almost 0% interest. So pls do not spend sleepless nights worrying about our farmers.

And being living beings, they need food too and in case of getting sick, some treatment. If the animal is old, not producing milk, and market price is low, it is nothing but a burden. What the farmers will do? selling them to Hindutvadi Gao shalas owners, who will buy those animals from the poor farmers at dirt cheap price. Who will lose? the poor farmer.

Then why do Farmers commit suicide? :D
