Skipper Sarfraz makes 'racist' remarks directed at South African batsman

. . .
While India excelled in science, arts, business, medicine etc you losers spend most of your day screaming for freedom of kashmiris. Keep crying, no one's giving you kashmir as a charity.

we know your progress in rape.even your pm like to spend days in jungle without toilet.have a shame.

.
It's not racist - not in the classical sense anyway. Pakistani's do not have the baggage of slavery and colonialism that Europeans do, we don't have the same "racism" that they do. Reference to skin colour is pretty much like reference to any other physical attribute in our society.
THIS no one seems to understand because everyone wants to be more gora than the goray - oh look racism? But calling someone goray in Pakistan is teasing not even something bad...It isnt our fault in the English language BLACK is bad...

In western culture, black has been a symbol for death, mourning, sin & evil, and the strange or the "other", but also of humility, and of writing and literature.

In western culture, white has been a symbol of innocence, virginity, virtue, the holy but sometimes also of death.

How is that fair - oh look racism?!

In Pakistan it is literally common to call someone lambo - tall...And in no way do we take it an offense if someone is nicknamed kallu!

However, I can understand this in SA would carry different meaning because of their history and Sarfraz should have been more careful!

This is terrible when your lack of understanding of the culture makes you ignorant of the culture despite claiming your PhD on the culture!

Pathetic that everyone here is more concerned and discussing about a person being called black.

But non is seem discussing about the language used against someones mother. It's a real shame that the skipper don't know how to respect a mother. :(

I've been most polite and civil during the entire discussion here. Yet you are the one who is showing signs of the culture that I was taking about. And that too without any provocation I guess. Moreover I'm not preaching anything. If you had better comprehension skills (that sure you do I guess) you would have understood that from my last comment. :hitwall:

@Dubious @waz Please take care of your friend.

YOU didnt understand even after Awan explained it nor did you even take a min to read the translation...what is your mom praying coz in Pakistan mom's prayers are the strongest! THAT is our culture and standard of a woman!

@Tom M you took this out of context...instead of understanding the post you twisted it and turned it into a culture war!

lol, he didnt insult his mother, its common culture here in Pak that mothers sit on prayer mat praying for thier sons whether they have gone to war, an exam or a competition. He refered to this when he said, where is ur mother sitting, what had she prayed for u. Atleast try to understand things before jumping to conclusions.

However, in Pakistan WHITE is for mourning also to go for masjid and Haj, tough sadly we do have black for evil though we are told to kiss a black stone during Haj...making both colours good in Islam!

However, black in west and in Pakistan is also called classy...So take your pick where and how you want to get offended!

Yet you are the one who is showing signs of the culture that I was taking about
So you were talking about a specific culture, insulting all Pakistanis? Then claiming:

That's your comprehension issue, read my comments again. When did I attacked your culture specifically in the first place ??? I merely wrote "That is not a sign of any healthy culture". Now why does you feel irritated/insecure from this comment ??? I never mentioned or attributed to anyone, any person or country. On the contrary what was in my mind when I typed it was Sports, and it is a reference towards sporting culture even though I never used the term.

It is your inherent hatred that is forcing to make such comments. Don't expect me to stoop to your level. And please excuse me if you don't have anything on topic to say.

You cant keep it civil, you dont deserve a thread!

With all due respect, I guess you didn't noticed the word "ANY" that I had mentioned in my reply when I wrote;

Irrespective of the intentions in the skippers mind. Why unnecessarily bring in parents expecially mom in any kind of discussions/comments ?? That is not a sign of any healthy culture. Atleast from my perspective. :-)

I never specifically targeted any country, group or even a person. It was a general statement which includes me as well.

To put my point once again. Irrespective of what the intentions/contexts may be it is not good to bring in parents, especially mom in any discussion/comments unnecessarily. And as mentioned above it's just my perspective. :)

Again, I still believe this comment of mine doesn't deserved an abuse in response. And if you still think I'm at wrong, well I will refrain from engaging with @Awan68 from here on, will keep him on my ignore list. :)

Thankyou.

it is bad. people dont realise how sensitive such slurs are; he is lucky that they did not swing a bat at him
Buddy he didnt mean it in racist context but i can understand how this topic is very sensitive for south africa. The most we can accuse sarfraz of is insensivity, not racism and he didnt say it in english so it wasnt targetted at him but a jibe for his teammates. This black white divide doesnt exist in Pakistan.

Oh I did notice it. It is the new form of trolling. I have noticed alot of members are resorting to such tactics :agree:

Any but then that any was wasted when you equated a member to the said "any" culture!

The parents giving "doa" is a good thing in our culture...Not every talk about parents is about abuse as @Awan68 explained!

Oh I did tackle his abusive post and told him to mind his language...We do encourage people from different nations to interact. It is when you cut off you get confused about culture and that results in confusion altogether!

Why do u even bother,,everyone knows this,,, pakistani s along with most North indians will hardly find anything wrong. Culturally it is not inappropriate for most of them.
they can hardly converse without involving mothers n sisters, , it's thr bhayya culture.
Sarfaraj isn't racist, , he is just bhayya.

How is this Not racist then?

I Love the racist game

.
To those who can not understand the culture of asking if your mom is praying for you and take that as an "insult"

GOD BLESS YOU! Please keep away from this thread!

For those who think it was rude for him to say such remarks...Rude, yes! RACIST: Not in the context he said it!

A brown man shouldn't call a <culturally inappropriate term> man, <culturally inappropriate term>.

Rule of thumb states that, only a <culturally inappropriate term>man can call a <culturally inappropriate term> man, <culturally inappropriate term>.

You're getting old Baba El Sidd. You should know this.
