Six FC soldiers martyred in Bolan bomb blast
By: AFP Published: 10:49 AM, 19 May, 2020

Six paramilitary soldiers were martyred and four wounded in a roadside bomb attack on their vehicle in Balochistan, officials said early Tuesday.

The incident happened in the hilly areas of Bolan district, some 80 kilometres (50 miles) southeast of Quetta late on Monday.

"Six Frontier Corps personnel were killed in a roadside bomb blast while four others received injuries and have been sent to hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Bolan Murad Kasi told AFP.

The bomb hit the vehicle during a routine patrol, he added.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but Baloch militants demanding greater autonomy have been waging an insurgency for years while the province is also riven by sectarian strife and violence.

Six soldiers were killed in a similar roadside bomb blast earlier this month. The incident was later claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army.

Mineral-rich Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan and Iran, is the largest of Pakistan's four provinces, but its roughly seven million inhabitants have long complained they do not receive a fair share of its gas and mineral wealth.

China is investing in the area under a $54-billion project known as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), upgrading infrastructure, power and transport links between its far-western Xinjiang region and Pakistan's Gwadar port.

Thousands of paramilitary troops carry out security checks and help police in maintaining law and order in restive parts of Pakistan--AFP.

Seven FC soldiers embrace martyrdom in separate attacks in Balochistan
Seven Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were martyred on late Monday night in two separate incidents in Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the military’s media wing, six soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO), were martyred when the FC patrolling team’s reconnaissance vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) when it was returning to a base camp in Pir Ghaib, Mach in Balochistan.

A civilian driver also embraced martyrdom in the attack.

The soldiers martyred in the IED blast were identified as Naib Subedar Ihsan Ullah Khan, Naik Zubair Khan, Naik Ijaz Ahmed, Naik Maula Bux, Naik Noor Muhammad. The driver was identified as Abdul Jabbar.

In another incident, Sepoy Imdad Ali was martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists near Mand, in Balochistan’s Kech district, the ISPR stated.

Soldier martyred, two terrorists killed in North Waziristan operation

Earlier, on May 8, six security forces personnel, including one officer, were martyred when an IED struck their reconnaissance vehicle near the Pakistan-Iran border.

The military’s media wing said that the incident took place in Kech district’s Buleda area in Balochistan, which is about 14 kilometres away from the Iran border.

Security forces were on routine patrolling to check possible routes used by terrorists in the mountainous and extremely treacherous terrain of Mekran, the statement added.

According to the ISPR’s release, Major Nadeem Abbas Bhatti was a resident of Hafizabad; Naik Jamshed was a resident of Mianwali; Lance Naik Taimoor and Sepoy Nadeem hailed from Taunsa Sharif; Lance Naik Khizer Hayat belonged to Attock, whereas Sepoy Sajid was a resident of Mardan.

Has there been official acknowledgement by ISPR of this incident?

Looks like Pakistan should adopt strategy used by Indian CRPF in naxal areas.

We used to lose dozens in IED attacks on vehicles every year in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
But we soon stopped using vehicles for troop movements and switched to motorcycles as a result annual casualties from IEDs came down to single digits.

Last year Maharashtra police paid the price in one incident in May 2019 when they violated this rule.

Motorcycles are far more effective than APCs/MRAPs if you want to reduce casualties.
If insurgents have enough explosives they can easily counter MRAPs by building bigger and bigger IEDs (most MRAPs can't withstand more than 20 kg high explosives)

.
Quetta is a relatively small dusty city, something not right if PA can't contain the terrorism and infiltration from Afghanistan.

When they will stop using Toyota HiLux Cardboard shield as ballistic protections .... Pakistan make good MRAP... is it cost saving or life is cheap ...don't know what is the matter. Same situation in FATA North and South Waziristan every day we lose soldiers ... If army is under budget and stretch too thin..... @Signalian

It’s incompetence of Pak Military leadership and poor planning for OPs. No matter how you cut it or make excuses this is unacceptable lack of drones and other tools that can be developed or acquired. Loosing precious lives that take years to train and feed and gone because these generals can’t think out the damn box.

A flying drone consume far less patrol then Toyota Hilux...I don't know the cost of attack helicopter . But , its time to buy Chinese helicopter. Seem majority of Cobra are grounded. Otherwise in Musharraf era they used Cobra and avoid using ground troops.

Yes that and one would think looking at US OPs they would learn something by now.
