Tarim Basin was previously occupied by the Buddhist Dzungars who oppressed Uyghur Turks as vassals. The Chinese had differences with them, so they massacred the Dzungars and allowed the Uyghur to settle that area for China.

Basically, Tarim Basin is a part of China historically.

That's not how the world works man. I mean look at this way, we criticise Indians all the time for their treatment of Muslims.
