Sino-Japanese War still stings China 120 years later

The next millenium belongs to China. The fact that USA owes trillion in debt to China which shows China is going to play major role succeeding USA as superpower possibly.

China owns 8% of the American debt. Japan, too, owns 7% of the American debt. So the threat of China blackmailing the US economy is minimal. This year, Japan will eclipse China as the largest international partner to own US debt.

Japanese media were emotional after Chinese paper published a map with 2 mushroom clouds. lol

It was bad class, my friend. We hold nations to the level of professionalism, maturity, and class as we Japanese hold ourselves in. We expect the same from of our international partners. Unfortunately there are times when partners are found in want.

Well, that's nothing. In this rate China economy is progressing, that will seem trivial for now. USA should try to reduce its debt which it owe China; trillion dollars and counting.

Breath of fresh air.

We are sentimental and emotional, but we do not hate America for it.

It stopped the war. A war that we, unfortunately, started.

No doubt that a war started by Japan, but that was no excuse for USA to drop Nuclear on Japan which forever left damage that is beyond the repair, not to mention side effects which the world is still battling medically.

The US Economy is $17.25 Trillion.

China owns 8% of the US National Debt = $1.36 Trillion

Japan owns 7% of US National Debt = $1.19 Trillion

Technically speaking, if the Chinese were to demand the US pay its debt, do you really think its much of a problem?

The United States , literally, has an economy that is $17.25 Trillion. $1.36 Trillion is not even 1/10th of its GDP.

Yes, you started it, that is why Japan is universally considered in the wrong.

And America did not start the war.

And can we expect Japanese to do something similar?

Not if Japanese government/elite is always trying to ignored or misrepresent their wrong-doing in WWII to their citizenry.

I agree, but given the predicament that USA finds itself in certain wars such as Afghan war, Middle East and expanding. That is going to be game-changer. Even though that is not close to one-tenth of American GDP, USA is yet to pay debt.

@Nihonjin1051
Do you know what the problem is with you? On one hand you wish to have a good sino-jap relations, to be friends and good trading partners. On the other hand you fully support Abe's move to stir up nationalism against China because he's painting China as a rising threat to Japan. You think Japan should start with re-militarizing to counter this so called threat.

You can keep believing Diaoyu belongs to Japan for all i care, Chinese will do the same and claim it's ours. It's because of this disputed island which initiated the crack of sino-jap relations in recent years. Deng said let the future generation solve the issue wisely. China view what Japan did as bad taste and will do what's necessary. Naturally Abe would respond with China being the aggressor and there we have it a vicious circle of throwing mud at each other.

Just don't blame China for stirring up nationalism, it takes two to tango right? :agree:
As i have said before, Japan needs to undo her mistake first then there's room to improve the current hostile situation. If Japan keeps ignoring these sounds then she leaves China no choice but to take a more assertive stance.

Japanese character is ambitious. We are not a self defeatist people. We rise to the challenge.

This is why we were able to defeat Mongol invasions, and were able to resist colonialism, and to become the first industrialized power in Asia.

Japanese character is like this because we have -- innately-- have a culture that trains us to be competitive, resilient. The Code of Bushido is intertwined in our everyday life.

Too much ambition will simply crush your tiny little body, and you should have learned your lesson in the WWII.

The next war with Japan won't be a minor one. We will go all out. Anyone in our way will be an enemy.

What are you going to do China? Suck on it. Your worse days are still to come for the crimes you commited and aggresion you show to your neighbors. One would say they would be accomodating to avoid another humiliation but they seem to repeat history.

They should be kissing the hands of US a hunderd times for they have saved their skin in WW2. But unfortunately as ungrateful they are, they even bark at US and don't show a glance of thankfulness to their savours.

US has created a monster the region has to deal with now.
Oh, we are very peaceful. Our American friend understand we are a peaceful loving country. We wish nothing but the best to our American friend.

Japanese didn't defeat the Mongol invasions, natural disasters did..

The so called Mongol invasion of Japan was mainly a Korean one and they plundered Kyushu until typhoons destroyed incoming supplies.

While the Southern Song ships were mainly made for rivers so they sunk.

You fail to mention that Tang/Silla vs Yamato/Baekje War that the Japanese were crushed with impunity.

Even when the Ming had to simultaneously contend with 2 other wars and when the dynasty was at its heyday it was able to repel a numerically superior Japanese army.

While Hideyoshi failed to reinforce his troops due to Joseon and Ming superiority in naval warfare.

If Japanese are proud of destroying a decadent Qing dynasty, they why don't mention the fact that they cowered under the supposed threats of Tang and Ming invasions?

Instead we to prove that the Japanese were militarily superior to Koreans and Chinese, lies such as Jingu's invasion of the Three Kingdoms of Korea or clan accounts that the Ming lost 30,000 troops in one battle.

The Huns were extinguished. The Mongols were extinguished. The Manchu Qing were extinguished. The Yamatos are next.

Our DF-41 missiles will purge the Yamatos. It is destiny.

Japanese tried to achieve their ambitions many times before, although they have always failed, neverthless their nation has gained progress; Like after the battle of Baekgang when Japanese faced first defeat at the hand of foreign powers, Yamato started intensive study to learn and adopt anything from the continent which might be useful for them,

Or after the imjin war when japanese again were forced to retreat after trying to keep their holdings on the korean peninsula from their prolonged invasion, while japan has gone into isolation after their failure, the shogunate managed to consolidate their rule and stabilise the country, after all those japanese warrior who were still battle hungry from the warring states period burnt out their fire in the failed invasion. If those people who knows nothing other than fighting and killing werent kept in check, Japan might fall back into chaos after hard fought unification.

And It is the same with their most recent failure, while devastated by the millitary defeat including the atomic bombs, their structure at home remained mostly untouched, and the modernisation of Japan which took place ever since meiji era were not destroyed or halted. On the contrary, Japan gained support from the western world powers which have proven to be critical for Japan rebuilding their nation into economic powerhouse.

In conclusion those past ambitions of Japan which never achieved their original goals did bring japan many benefits, they helped japan to catch up with outside world and progress even further, at the same time japan has always managed to prevent paying the "unaffordable" price no matter what kind of crimes they have commited, being protected as an island nation and be seen as useful for at good position to keep continental powers(east asia) in check. Japan is a unfortunate country for being constantly plagued by natural catastrophes but at the same time also a lucky nation being at a good position protected from the foreign human nations. Sadly this also blinded them, for they have only learnt the benefits of taking risks, not the price which they should pay, and thats the reason they will repeat their past "mistakes"(in the eyes of their victims) again and again in the future.

Japan used to be far away from China. Then we took Taiwan. Then we took Manchuria. Now we are in the process of putting South Korea back in our bag. We are already patrolling Diaoyu Islands waters. Now we started air patrols over Diaoyu Islands. Soon we will declare Ryukyu Islands disputed territory. The noose is tightening around Japan's neck.

Once the second artillery takes out the Kyoto emperor in a ballistic missile strike, the Japanese will fall apart without government or leadership.
