There is a lot of military activity in the area. The Chinese have just finished a major exercise there.
Yeah, that's another scenario that China has to be prepared for and unfortunately US, not honouring it's treaty with China, is currently pushing Taiwan in that direction for its evil designs on China. Then, If Taiwan declare independence, China will have to take full control of Taiwan by force no matter what's the cost, definitely not allowing Taiwan to become an anti-China bastion with US and possibly NATO troops booted there.
This I think, in a nutshell is the issue. The US and it's agencies are portraying China as an evil regime bent on invading every country in Asia. An invasion of taiwan will fulfill that agenda.
Just as the US pushed Ukraine to go for Nato membership, knowing it will cross Russia's red line, so it is pushing Taiwan to go for independence.
It is take full control of Taiwan, not invasion though, Taiwan is legally Chinese territory. Yeah, US wants every country in the world to go against China and destroy China all together. The Yankees and the whites in general are such shameless and thick faced people that they have the audacity to accuse China wants and will invade every country in the region and the world. Which country or region in the world China has invaded or started a war for last 40 years or more ? Which offensive war has new China ever started since its founding in 1949 ? And how many innocent countries the Yankees and NATO have invaded, bombed to hell and mass killed their populations, like Iraq, Afghan, Libya and Syria just to name a few in the last 30 years ?

There was NO such agreement. Even Gorbachev said there wasn't one. No NATO troops actually moved into the expanded area of the former Warsaw pact countries until AFTER Russia had invaded Crimea. Russia had given its written word that it would not use force against its neighbours but it broke that agreement. In fact it broke two - the Budapest memorandum and the Partnership for Peace agreement. Russia's word is worth nothing.
Gorbachev wasn't the one who made agreement with US or NATO about it's expansion. It was Yeltsin and Putin who made the agreements with US and NATO. US and NATO broke the promise of not expanding NATO eastward towards Russia 5 times indeed. Baker also made promises to Gorbachev not to expand. Now, US and NATO can white wash or eat what they promised since they are enemies of Russia now.

The plan is to push China to invade Taiwan. This is to paint China as the aggressor. After 2025, according to the Rand research paper, China will become too powerful, so it has to be before then. Also the digital Yuan will replace the US dollar and hasten its decline, so before then.
Whether China takes full control of Taiwan by force before 2025 all depends on US and Taiwan itself. If Taiwan and US push for independence or Taiwan allows US troops to station there before 2025 as some in the US are calling for now, a war of total unification will certainly break out before 2025 no matter what are the consequences for China and no matter if US will intervene militarily or not. China will even go to a nuclear war with US if the US decides to intervene militarily in Chinese Taiwan matters. There is no such definite time that like after 2025 China is unstoppable and before that China is too feeble and can be discounted. We don't listen to those US and West bullshits that might well have their own ulterior motive. The major factor is that TW is too closed to mainland China and too far away from US. All US bases that are closed to this area are all in China's DF striking radius. To play the nuclear game, China is also capable of counter-attack. For these reason, it is better for US to think it twice if they want to jump in.

Allowing China to settle the Nanjing Massacre and Unit 731 and Yasukuni shrine .

China should already aware of USN carrier defense capability, aren't they? Unless they're such idiots who think that US nuclear Carrier is alone in the water. So they should have already put all MOAB to the factor. Specially when Chinese are excel in Math.
In term of defensive capability, there is no doubt that China's capability is top notch. The problem is their offensive capability. Almost all their weapons are geared for defensive purpose. Not invasion. And for me, that is a wrong way to develop. Because whatever you are dove or hawk, offensive is still the best defense. But from their J-20, DF-21, etc are weapons to protect themselves against US invasion. Not vice versa.
