The second richest General in Pakistans history after Lt Gen. Fazle Haq. Both were worth billions of dollars in the 80's and their buddy COAS whose son used to ply taxis in Chicago is worth Billions today. Zia might beat them both though but information is hard to obtain.
Akhtars sons boast of a highly enviable business portfolio. Humayun Akhtar was about to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan during Musharrafs tenure but something happened along the way.
Though Akhtar is credited as the mastermind of operation cyclone but the reality is that it was a collective effort between CIA and ISI. However Akhtar has to be given credit for some major elements of the whole plan.
One thing you must note is that his sons financed such exaggerated books like 'The Silent Soldier' to make Akhtar more of a hero in the eyes of Pakistani's.
Blamed for Ojhri and the continous selection of hardliners over moderate elements in Afghanistan, Akhtar just might be the person responsible for the grand mess afterwards.
If being a goon makes you an excellent spy master, then he gets full points.
Are you in a position to substantiate your arguments ?
Seems like your personal loathing falling out, rather than commenting on thread's subject.
