Sikhs protest in Srinagar, raise pro-Khalistan slogans

SRINAGAR - The members of Sikh community staged a demonstration at the Press Enclave in Indian-held Kashmir on Saturday to protest against the desecration of their religious book at Kotakpur in Indian Punjab some days back.


The protesters raised pro-Khalistan and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party slogans and burnt an effigy of Indian Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, a TV channel reported. It is to mention here that two Sikhs were killed in police firing at Behbal Kalan village in Faridkot, Punjab, during the protests against the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib.

Do you really think it would include pakistani punjab? Our punjab in almost 95% muslim and is 50% of pakistan population. If the sikhs really wanted a united punjabi khalistan then they wouldnt have divide east punjab into punjab and haryana.

On the other hand I have read Pakistani members writing about strong bond between Sikhs and Muslims .
So it will be real test of Muslim love for the Sikhs .

Well In my eyes , Pakistan east of Indus i.e. Sindh and Punjab are Indic in culture and Values . So they will have no problem in living with their Indic brothers from this side .

Sukhbir Singh, Head of Gurmat Taksal which carried out the protest in Srinagar says thre was no anti India content in their protest and it was directed solely against BJP/RSS goons.Blames media for misreporting.
Adds that his organisation favours the creation of a Khalistani state within the Indian union i.e. it will remain part of India but will be governed by Sikh tradition for internal matters.

Hypothetically since most of the worship places of Sikhs are also in Pakistan so Khalistanis would have a rights agreement where they can visit their places of worship in Pakistan with minimal or no real expenses. Thats hypothetical-if Sikhs ever get Khalistan from Indian punjab.

Well that would be guaranteed as we would want good relations with them. As they would be a landlocked small country with a hostile neighbour we would have to have open borders with them like nepal and india do.

Indus Valley civilization was spread across two regions .
East of Indus = Indic people or Indo Aryans .
West of Indus = Old Persians or Indo Iranians .
