A Sikh student at Harvard Law School was allegedly abused and harassment at a store near his campus after he was mistaken for being Muslim.

Harmann Singh, 22, a first year law student said he was shopping at a store in Massachusetts and talking to his mother over the phone when a man walked inside and told the counter clerk, “Oh look, there’s a (expletive) Muslim.”

“Over the weekend, I was confronted by a man who called me a ‘(expletive) Muslim’ and followed me around a store aggressively asking where I was from, and no one in the store said a thing,” said a dismayed Singh.

“I was on the phone with my mom the entire time, and we were both concerned for my safety as this man stood inches away from me,” Singh recalled his experience.

Singh, who is from Buffalo, New York, said he tried to ignore the man and continued to talk to his worried mother. The man then chased Singh to the checkout counter.

“I told him, ‘Hey I’m actually from New York. I live here now down the street. Is there anything I can do to help you?'” Singh explained. However, the harasser did not respond, forcing him to leave the store.

Meanwhile, the owner of the store told Boston.com that he was going back and forth inside the shop when the incident occurred on November 11 and saw the man speaking to Singh.

“I don’t know where that guy came from and I hope I don’t see him again,” the owner said on the condition of anonymity.

Since the election of Donald Trump there has been a steep rise in incidents against Muslims. The Republican candidate has been highly outspoken against Muslims, minorities and immigrants, raising concerns and fear among the said groups and ethnicities.

More than 200 incidents of hate, harassment and intimidation have been witnessed across the US ever since Trump emerged victorious in the presidential elections on November 8.

The white man is an islamophobic, but what do you expect that we go around defending muslims.sorry dude the image is created by muslims and they have to change it or fight it or continue the same was that its someone else fault.

@Tamilnadu

Assuming you are being sarcastic, Just so its inappropriate to refer Caucasians as "white".
Its equivalent of referring someone from the subcontinent as "brown" or any one of Mongoloid origin as "yellow".

We probably will. But we can't change it.

We can stop the Islamophobia of the West just as much as we can stop Muslims from doing jihadi activities from Spain to New york to Mumbai.

Next there should be a Muslim tag or non Muslim tag. Around the neck.

Choohe ke gale mein ghanti daal do. Problem is Asian keep mumm.

What do you expect muslims to do? Muslims are not a monolithic block where actions of a few muslims mean they are somehow connected and endorsed by the rest of muslims. Do Americans protest every time there's a mass shooting?

. .
They do. There are protest marches that clog the streets. And significantly there are NO SUPPORTERS for the shooter. :)

First, please quote my entire post or don't reply.
If you are talking of those level of protests then you will see those in muslim countries as well. It seems like Muslims have to go above and beyond to show they don't support extremists, in ways not really clear.

With respect to there being no supporters for the shooter, are you sure about that? When a white supremacist shot the black church, I am sure KKK and all the white supremacist were quite about happy about that.

Honestly. Yes. Muslims should protest extra to be noticed. The first protests get noticed less.

Till the 1965 civil liberty movement, the white Americans were in a comfort zone. Only then did they come out and support for everyone's rights. And those opposing them were few.

There have been Muslim peace marches as well. But there are massive processions for dead terrorists too. By ordinary Muslim civilians. That needs to stop. Seriously. :)

Perception takes time to change and it takes one bug to ruin it all. India was known (and still is occasionally) as a land of snake charmers in the West. That changed. Slowly.

Honestly I don't think you can compare civil rights movement to this. I just don't see why muslims have to prove that they don't agree with the terrorists. Americans aren't explicitly asked to disown mass shooters, even though there are hundreds of them each year..
