China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam should sit down and form a standard Chinese character committee and adopt a standardize character.
I did not know they had the same characters. This is very interesting! It is like how Urdu and Arabic share same characters.

I don't care about what Japan, Korea or Vietnam use.

Chinese characters for Chinese. Others want to use, you're welcome. Others don't want to use? Welcome to leave too. Nobody gives a fk about Vietnam using Latin letters or Koreans using Hangul. If Japan wants to switch to totally hiragana, katakana and English, I wouldn't lose any sleep.

Invent a lot of characters? I watched their political talk shows everyday, standard Chinese in Taiwan is the same.

The merits of traditional Chinese character is that it is the only system that all East Asian accept, and according to the survey in this thread, most East Asian accept.

China can invent her own system, and meanwhile Taiwan and HK are using the other. Result is -- breaking up of East Asian system.

If there is no unification of writing system, 1000 years later Taiwan will produce their own script completely incomprehensible by PRC, so will Japan and Korea.

Then East Asia will move apart.

Right now no one is understanding Vietnamese Roman script and Vietnam has since using Anglicize lexicon. You want that to happen?

Unless all the rest agree on simplified system, then to unified East Asian writing system, its better to go traditional.

What you suggested is admirable but impractical. Korean & Japanese had already developed their own writings from Chinese script, to turn back the clock is impossible, Vietnam moved away from Chinese script in an effort to reduce Chinese influence on them. So no dice here. But it is true that traditional script captures the essence of meaning far better than simplified, no doubt about that. But to go back now seems a far fetched idea.

考量 was first used by Taiwanese. Then we borrowed it into mainland.
Taiwanese also invented a lot words that were obviously borrowed from Japanese and English. Like 酷(cool), 人气(人気),写真。Taiwanese really like foreign culture.

I intend to learn Chinese, can anyone tell me is it essential for a non-native like me to learn pinyin?? And if I put in 45 minutes in a day how much time would it take to learn standard vocabulary?? @Chinese-Dragon

We invented the traditional characters, now we have the simplified characters as the standard scripts.

Just follow what we do, or you can be the leftover that getting marginalized from our sphere of influence.

China is the leader of East Asia, we don't need to appease others.

New words, but not new characters.
Words are created everyday.
All new scientific and technological words in Chinese are also created or translated based on very limited characters. But now Japanese and Korean are more likely to use transliteration(according to pronunciation),but we mostly use meaning translation or sound-meaning combination translation.
One example:
computer=电脑(electric brain)
