India's Erstwhile Punjab was much bigger than the Punjab in Pak.

Dividing a state does not always make it better - While Haryana has flourished Jharkhand & Chattigarh have not performed as expected.

Sir Indian punjab was much smaller than Pakistani punjab. Jharkhand is far away from Punjab. Indian Punjab was divided in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh while the total size of all three Indian provinces combined were much smaller than Pakistani side of Punjab

For other countries, breaking up provinces for better and proper administration would work. But in the case of Pakistan, it is chance for many people to come to power and hence promoting already widespread corruption. A new police force, ministry of education, ministry of development for infrastructure and provincial government would be formed giving promotion to those people who earlier did not this power; resulting mis-use of power and budget.

Not only the fact it would divide the citizens even further destroy somewhat harmony and creating hatred/chaos. The proposal for breaking Punjab into two provinces was put forth for the first mention reason.

Just bcos some thugz from Sindh want to see Punjab into small pieces,On wht logic they are trying to divide Punjab poverty ??

Sindh should have been divided way b4 the poverty level in sindh is 100 times more then Punjab..It is baseless issues from all the baseless parties .

India's case is different.

Sikhs' representative Mr. Tara Singh at the time independence agreed to join Indian union on the condition that Sikhs will be given separate state, where they will be in majority.

But after 1950 (Time when India's constitution was made) it was not possible to divide country on religious lines as India is secular and that would be considered unconstitutional.

Do you have any source for your claim that Master Tara Singh wanted a Sikh majority state in India.As far I know he wanted Punjabi to be the binding factor for the new state of Punjab.

As far as your claim that India was secular hence Punjab was divided on the bases of language is bull cr@p.There was a Punjabi Suba Movement in 1950's for the demand of division of Punjab on language bases.The government was aginst that because it would mean a Sikh majority state because the majority people who spoke Punjabi in East Punjab were Sikhs.This was the starting point for the rift between Akali Dal and Congress which led to the separatist movement.

Punjab progressing. If Upper Punjab can help raise the living standard of lower Punjab then why break it


Upper Punjab has the least number of Land Lords and is most developed industrially. If we make it a seperate province its development will increase and the difference between Upper Punjab and other areas of Pakistan will increase. I dont think this will be good for Pakistan!!

Punjab and Sindh as well......Karachi should be treated almost as a seperate district.

Balochistan also should be broken. Seraiki province has become way too political, but i do believe it should be done.

Yes yes to the Seraiki province. Poor things have been divided between Punjab / NWFP and what not. Give them a place to be happy as well. Allah Allah

In this case, Punjab broken up into; Punjab, Seraki, etc.

Madras Province was divided into 4 states on linguistic line - Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Bombay was divided into Gujarat, Maharashtra states. Punjab was divided on linguistic basic. Putting final end to the grievances based on language.
