If it is not in the Quran then it is not of importance.

Focus on improving peoples lives as commanded by the Quran, not on frivolous 'symbols', and the Muslim world will be a much better place.

Yep keep exposing yourself further with your secular agenda and rejecting Hadis.

That may have been Jinnah's vision, but consider the 1973 Constitution:

All existing laws shall be brought in conformity with the Injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and Sunnah, in this Part referred to as the Injunctions of Islam, and no law shall be enacted which is repugnant to such Injunctions. link

That was the point Pakistan crossed the line: no longer was it to be a country of Muslims, but a country whose inhabitants' lawful acts were to be judged by conformity to "Quran and Sunnah". Isn't having their verses "ingrained and embossed" in one's mind now a necessary aid to every Pakistani?

That pertains to legislation. It takes the arrogance out of democracy and reminds us we're slaves of The One who keeps our breath going. Meaning, we cannot do something as grandiose as make laws when the Law exists, only legislate where we're on the safe side of the fence e.g. planting trees is admired but we could limit people from doing so in the middle of a road.

Under shari3a other religions/systems can legislate within their sphere of legal liberty. Pakistan is dragging its feet in this regard, it took 40+ years for the Sikh marriage act to be passed.

Which part of Quran did Jinnah fallow when he chose Pakistan's vision of secularism?

“Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth has been made clear from error. Whoever rejects false worship and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that never breaks. And God hears and knows all things.” (Quran 2:256)

“If it had been your Lord’s will, all of the people on Earth would have believed. Would you then compel the people so to have them believe?” (Quran 10:99)

“So if they dispute with you, say ‘I have submitted my whole self to God, and so have those who follow me.’ And say to the People of the Scripture and to the unlearned: ‘Do you also submit yourselves?’ If they do, then they are on right guidance. But if they turn away, your duty is only to convey the Message. And in God’s sight are all of His servants.” (Quran 3:20)

“The Messenger’s duty is but to proclaim the Message.” (Quran 5:99)

"O believers, tee you securers of justice, witness for God. Let not detestation for a people move you not to be equitable; be equitable-that is nearer to God-fearing." (Quran 5:8)

"O You who believe, do not let one set of people make fun of another set. Do not defame one another Do not insult by using nicknames. Do not backbite or spear? ill of one another" (Quran 49: 1 1-121).

In practice it has meant that legislation via constitutional democracy is not the final law of the land, rather that belongs to the will of those who can wield Islam as they wish to the limits of their power and ability. Democratic processes are thus subordinate to religious dictatorship, as dictatorship needs no laws, only decisions. Did not Pakistan's own lawyers cheer the man who assassinated Salman Taseer?

Although the U.S. Constitution is a secular document, the Founders were deeply conscious of its foundation in religion and the rights of man as conceived by Locke and others and expressed by Jefferson in the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The Founders knew they had to remember they were mere mortals and if the men elected to the executive and legislature and chosen to serve on the Supreme Court were conscious of this then the system would work and if not the Constitution possessed checks and balances to limit the abuse of power.

Such limits do not exist, or do not function, in today's Pakistan. The 1973 Constitution justifies this.

From I understand he meant: if someone calls themselves a Muslim while changing the pillars or adding more, then they are not Muslim therefore rejected. Plain and simple.

This entire thing has been taken out of context. Please close this thread. Some people just don't have the common sense to interpret the Quran. Go ask a local translator for a better and in context translation.

True wisdom listens more, talks (in this case, YAPS) less and can get along with all types of people

Wiser Pakistanis than myself have said:

Meer-e-Karavaan hum thay, rooh-e-karvaan tum ho
Hum toh sirf unwaan thay, assl daastaan tum ho
Nafraton ke darwazay inn pe bandh hi rakhna
Iss watan ke parchum ko, sarr buland hi rakhna

Sharam karo. Some of you people should be ashamed.

send them all to hindustan or londonistan......such people arent required or needed in Pakistan

Its not fair on India, best is to ask them to go to Tora Bora and wait for their Amir to come out of the cave and grace them with his one eyed vision of Taliban way of life

the Pakistan Flag is fine. Leave it alone; if you are unhappy with it, that's your problem.
