with THE US leaving afganistan there must be a surplus of these weapons laying around if a few pak army units can get this it would make a big impact. i'm not saying enough to arm 500,000 but enough for 10-12,000 troops on the front lines.

Afaik US army will be replacing M16 with M4A1 as the standard weapon for troops so I doubt there will be surplus although the gun market in Pakistan probably has some.

M4 is alright, but Pakistan needs a rifle with durability in mind.

what is wrong with the AK-74U?

M4 is suitable for Spc Ops units but not as an infantry rifle. The US Army has had trouble with these rifles in the field as well as with the 5.56mm round.

Pakistan should go for license production of HK-417A2 or FN-SCAR-H for the long term replacement of G-3 battle rifles as well as the MG-5 aka HK-121 to replace the old MG-3.

The M4 isn't adequate as a battle rifle for Pakistan Army needs. It's great for spec ops, the SSG already has plenty of them, but for a battle rifle something along the lines of HK 417 or one of the newer AK models is more suitable.

I suggest this one It's the Serbian zastava m21 has 3 variants this one can a good replacement for the m4 if not available and its for sure better than the G3 plus cheap and you can mass produce it localy.

No it does.

1- lighter.

2-more reliable.

3-Nato standard 56.45.

4-Shorter.

G3M is also lighter, shorter and has an upgraded gas operating system. Pakistan would like to retain the 7.62mm round. If we decide to replace almost a million rifles, they must offer a clear advantage over the existing rifle.

yes but the g3 isn't that good for todays standards look at this pic above man this looks so heavy! that's why the American gone for the M4 it's lighter smaller and letthal but expensive for third world countries where they strugle to survive.

G3 is fine for now.
