Should Kashmir get a chance to decide their future through Referendum?

Should Kashmir get a chance to decide their future through Referendum?

Conspiracy theories and speculations, nothing more.

You believe that untrained tribes alone could have created dire situation for Dogra army?

Nope. Either they got training or were fighting along with professionals or both.

.
That is actually spot on. Very sharp.

Am I missing something?

No! It instead is pretty weak. They have NO case whatsoever.

If UN has to implement its decision, then as per the Resolutions, ALL Pakistani forces including tribesman it has used for fighting in Kashmir in 1947 have to withdraw first, which Pakistan has not done till date. So that is a non starter.

If the UN has to implement its decision, then there is NO third option of independence. It's either India or Pakistan. So either way, independence to Kashmir is out of the question.

On what grounds should there be a referendum in Kashmir? Scotland's case is totally different.

If independence is an option, then why not a referendum in Balochistan, Sind, Waziristan, etc for independence?

I repeat, THERE IS NO THIRD OPTION OF INDEPENDENCE IN THE UN RESOLUTIONS. Period!

So why is Pakistan continually harping on the UN Resolutions?

The Simla Agreement has overtaken the UN Resolutions.

Lastly, the UN Resolutions which were passed under Chapter VI of UN charter are considered non binding and have no mandatory enforceability.

Excellent post.

This will open, perhaps, eyes of many members here.

We all saw that in 1965, when your mard-e-momin SSG commandos werw airdropped into Kashmir, in operation grandslam/grandmess, expecting to be welcomed with garlands by Kashmiris.

What happened was an epic anti climax - the local Kashmiris led them to the police station, where they spent the rest of the war, eating sarkaari food.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

precondition of referendum as per UN is that pak army should vacate whole kashmir . there is no such condition for indian army as king of kashmir decided to merge with india.then referendum can be hold.
now tell me how many pakistani are willing for referendum?

If a referendum was held asking whether to join Pakistan or India, Kashmir would opt to join Pakistan. If given chance of independence they would opt for that (maybe). Most Kashmiris hate India and that is fact no one can ignore nor deny. Both Pakistan and India should make an agreement, of holding a plebiscite/referendum in whole of Kashmir to solve the issue peacefully. Only people who reject a democratic referendum are those small-minded, selfish, immature, and fanatical people who don't want peace for the region.

Funny considering the fact that Pakistan did not fulfilled the condition for conducting the referendum till today .

According to a British survey, only 3 to 5% of Kashmiris want to join Pakistan. But Pakistan has very little or nothing to offer Kashmiris, even experts have said the same thing. Indipendence to Kashmir is not even practical, feasible it would be a very small country located between India & Pakistan. The economy of Kashmir is a Basket case, the only industry is tourism & handicrafts, Inshort very limited opportunities

Simple No. They can decide whether to live in India or Not.Kashmir is our land and indispensable part of India. They are free to Migrate to Pakistan and live happily like their brothers in Azad Kashmir.
Kashmir is the of Kashmirs not whole Indian if Kashmir does not want to merge with India then what is your problem If Kashmir also not want to be a part of Pakistan we will accept it
One day you will leave Kashmir on their on then why not now

.
Kashmir is the of Kashmirs

No Kashmir is for Mullahs. Those Pundits kicked out of Kashmir were not Kashmiris? Mullah can vacate Kashmir if they do not want to live with India. It is our fore father's land. It will remain with us.

What British survey? And if you feel so confident why not hold a referendum to settle the issue? Of course, for obvious reasons India wouldn't.

Why should we conduct a referendum because you have a problem .

We are not having any problem and are happy with status quo .

Exactly the fanatical, selfish, immature mentality I was talking about earlier. These are people who are against a democratic referendum and want to prevent any real peace in South Asia.

1. Are we the one who are crying for a referendum ?? NO

2. Are we the one who chickens out from fulfilling the per-requisite for conducting a referendum ?? Again NO .

So the country you are talking about is not ours but the one said in 1 & 2 .

Similarly wil Pakistan hold a referendum or Plebiscite in Balochistan, infact the situtation is fast deteriorting there. There r regular attacks on Pakistani soldiers,Levies,FC.Well the situation in Kashmir & Balochistan r almost similar.
