Should Chinese be Taught in Pakistan?

I want to know what fellow Pakistanis think about the Sinitic languages being taught in Pakistani schools? I think that the public and private schools should adopt this language requirement. The benefits could be tremendous :

Economic benefits : enhanced trade and interaction between both nations, business 2 business relationship grows, product selection and consumer awareness will grow as well. Both nations can also bring other nations in a special tariff free economic alliance that will allow Pakistani products to flow into outside markets.
Diplomatic benefits : Chinese Pakistani alliance would gain much strength as this would bring both nations closer, it would also serve as a hedge against other powers in the region and abroad. A dual citizenship/preferred status could be introduced for citizens of China and Pakistan, and this sort of regional alliance could be extended to interested nations.
Cultural benefits : Interactions between people would bring new ideas and customs that each nation would adopt, learning a new language would improve quality of education and offer students the opportunity to live and work in China.

Go in quest of knowledge even unto China.

Buddy that's a no brainer question. Of course it must be taught in Pakistan. Learning foreign languages was advocated by the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) as well. We can only gain from it.

It's a useful language but we should also expand our horizons! We should have a nice mix of Eastern and Western influences as well as our preserved heritage.

There should be a combined TV channel of both countries where Chinese could understand and learn our traditions and we could learn theirs.

I am also in favor of launching a Combined News Channel of Muslim World AND there should be a Combined Research and Development Center who's findings should be common to all the Muslim Countries of the world.

China is fastest growing economy and close ally of Pakistan. There should be an option in school to learn Chinese, as in Indian private school we have option of french and german.
It may help them get job in china too. plus help in colloborating in technology transfer. In future china can outsource its work from Pakistan too.

It's a nice idea, but English is good enough for international communication.

Chinese is a difficult language to learn, because the "character" and the "sound" is completely different. So when you look at a character for example 龙/龍... you won't immediately know what the word sounds like. (Both these characters mean Dragon).

I recommend "Rosetta Stone" for anyone who is interested in learning new languages, it's probably the best language-learning software in the world.

Yes I think it would be good for increasing people-people contact & relations. Knowing their language will have more advantages in interacting with them than not knowing it, and will help enterprising Pakistanis better achieve their commercial/noncommercial pursuits in China. Pakistanis should take maximum advantage of the positive Pak-China relations by learning the language and developing greater business/peope-people relations with the Chinese. China and the Chinese are on their way up big time. I can only see more benefits coming out of this language learning & promoting endeavor.

Bring over boat loads of Mandarin teachers from China and start drilling the next Pakistani generation in the complexities and intricacies of Chinese characters!

due to the ever increase trade between us two countries, some knowledge of chinese language is definitely an advantage for pakistan people who frequently travel to china hk taiwan macau singapore or even thailand and vietnam for business.

Chinese , Farsi , Turkish , Arabic should be Choices for the student who may adopt whichever he/she choses.

There is an option in BA to learn farsi,arabic etc in B.A (bachelor for arts.
And i think many universities have language courses for example NUMBLE,NUST etc etc
So yes chinese is taught in Pakistan at university/college level...Its the students choice.

Well my friend we already have English, Arabic languages taught in Pakistan other than Urdu and Punjabi.....So one more language will do nothing except to lose our culture and more burden on students to adopt new subjects.........

But on the other hand it can be added as degree like M.A. Arabic, M.A. Farsi and M.A. Chinese to help businessment who want to develop business relations with china.
