Should BD buy the Japanese P-1 MPA aircraft

I frankly believe BN and BAF should have join forces with IN and IAF. With network centric capabilities, its onl BN which gains from India. Like Joint OPeration command of US and Canada.

:rofl::rofl:.....:laughcry::laughcry::laughcry:.....Yeah sure, just like IN and PLAN should do the same.

Even India doesn't need so many platforms to secure its EEZ when Indian EEZ is actually multi times larger than BD's.
The IN is going to procure 24-30 P-8Is along with 20 MR-MPAs (likely from DRDO based on the C-295 platform), the ICG will be going for 20+ of the same type. This is in addition to long range UAVs like the Heron and/or MQ-4C.

can't do, because the real purchase of arms deal can't be like that. No one want to deal with such customer.

Seems hilarious to me, when you proposed this kind of aircraft for the use of BD armed forces when most of your Navy warships is in dire need to be upgraded or built a new ships because the lacks of current BD Navy capability to policing their own water. Not to mention, BD Navy air arm even lacks of basic surveillance aircraft because the lacks of fund
don't tell them sis... they think they can buy the whole world with their money... :D

We can do, if we had common interests and no conflicts. But we have with China for now.

There is only common interests with respect to India and BD. However I do not think leaders at higher levels are even considering it. Its more advantageous to BD than to India, as BD has far more fewer ships and I believe BD's water are regularly monitered.

Its not about mutual benefit. Indians actually work for to boast as Supa Pawa. And we dont want any phony supa pawa in our backyard. BD will constantly work to nullify Indian supa pawa ambition.

Are you not actually working as cheerleader for China to become an supa pawa?? Why?
The same sub continental syndrome. We will let the Whites come and plunder, but will never let the neighbour attain glory, and bring him down.
Bangladesh cannot nullify anything India brings. Whether its economy, military or water. Live with it. Deal with it.
Intelligence and Maturity is something when you understand ur position, and revolve around to make it positive.
The next thing you have, is an economic super power. We are behind China by 15 years. Oh yes, and by 2030 we will be 10 Trillion dollar economy on conservative estimates. Bangladesh will only feed off from the economic activity from having an economic super power as ur neighbour. And since I know mature people are ruling BD, they wont be hearing to ur advice.

No matter how much you give advice, us subcontinent people will never stop being jealous of each other. This is nothing new, we have seen this from the Maharajas period, no wonder British ruled us for so many centuries.

Bangladesh will never let a phony super power in its back yard. you cant do anything about it. Now live with it and deal with it.

India is incapable of being any more than a middle-income country and will always be dominated by China.

Gotta confess, joining hands with India to pursue common interests is more beneficial to us than it is to India. I'm all for it. But we're simply not there yet.

Anti-BD sentiments is a tool used by Indian politicians to garner votes.

BJP's right wing rhetorics, year in and year out, have turned people in neighbouring states virulently anti-BD.

Whether or not you want us to get along with you - the ball is in your court.

Bangladeshis want nothing but better relationship with India. Check the table below and find the country with the most favourable view of India. See how we compare to the 'Dharmic brother' Buddhist countries. ; )

BD and India could maintain relation of Mitro Bahini but SM couldnt trust India's intention. His mind was fresh of Kolkata people. So he sent back Indian troops quickly. If India was around and kept gaining trust then it would happen naturally. But ironically he was to be killed by some CIA backed soldiers to diminish soviet influence in South Asia. And they have nurtured enmity between the two and India responded in many other ways. So the enmity just grown over time. Relation has improved under SH but its not to that level. During 70s there were man to man connection but not now. Only remaining as good neighbor is going forward.

BD and India has some mutual interest and working together on that which is to clean jamaat shibir terrorists from BD. As the enemy is international, BD needs International partner to counter them. And that partner is natural foe of BD's enemy. But what is confusing is that JMB Jamaat terrorists are harboring in West Bengal and operating from there to attack in BD.

@Maira La Mutual interests still can be created. Let's say that an era by Zia had never happened. What would have happened? Hell we might even have a open border aka Nepal. Contrary to what hardliners in PDF says, India would only lose its face by trying to go to war with Bangladesh. Not militarily. But diplomatically and internationally. Its in India's own interests to join hands with Bangladesh too. If we had a so close relationship like US-Canada, I do not think BJP's rhetoric might have won any votes. People would have seen Bangladeshis as friends, and not as aliens.
Another 10 years of Hasina and we might have that :P

@bongbang Sadly that is where the role of central govt is limited. The law and order is a state subject. GoI cant simply force Bengal govt to do its bidding. Central govt will get attacked for its role in undermining federalism.
Mamata is a well known Muslim appeaser who will go like in fancy dress competition to minority festivals. Some of local ISI agents were party members of Trinamool Congress. And bombs which went off (that were meant to be supplied to BD) were in another Trinamool member. Intelligence Bereau is now watching them, but state police is the one to take actions and arrests based on intelligence provided by IB.
If there is a opportunity we will swap Hasina for Mamata with u :P

Remember there is only one outstanding issues with BD, and that is Teesta water issue, blocked by Mamata at the last minute. Anyway, the relationship will only go forward. What I kept forward is just an suggestion. I do not know if higher up's have this idea. Atleast integrating AF and Naval assets with India will help you monitor ur own water and air space with more efficiency.

BD has the money to buy over a billion US dollars of MPAs.The government has already budgeted for 32 MPAs and these look like they will come from Russia or China.

My point is why get larger numbers of less capable platforms when BD can purchase less numbers of a more capable platform like the P-1?

12 P-1s for say 140 million US dollars each is affordable for BD. Remember BD is spending the most money this decade on the Navy as it has made a decision to focus in this area for now.

$140 million a piece is not just affordable it is practically peanuts. Considering that Bangladesh will eventually push Indian navy out of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean, at the very least 60 such long range MPAs are required for patrolling and to hunt down Indian subs and CBG.

A couple of squadrons worth of J-16s will be required for escort purposes or you can simply put an AESA radar on P1 and slap on a couple of BVRs so that it can not only hunt submarines but also fighters. J-31 is also something you should look at. Chinese won't be averse to TOT judging by the bilateral relations.

Bangladesh will be much larger economy than it is today and with the impending disintegration of India, Bangladesh will be in the right position to control a major part of South Asia and eventually South East Asia.
