Shocking! Woman thrashed for 'wearing short dress, roaming with men' in Pune

Considering the police filed a complaint and have arrested a few goons, what seems to be the problem ? has Crime against women or men become such an unusual incident ?

You can say that because you also belongs to Haryana land of rapists.

the woman in subject is Indian and most of the north India does't share any cultural links with us even the dress code.

. . . .
if you enquire with her about her political affiliation you will find that she and her two male friends will be some it/services types with a extra mba degree and that majority time leads to people being of the nationalist type... she certainly won't be a admirer of kanhaiya kumar and sheha rashid shora.

this was a saffron on saffron violence.

i hope she sees a lesson in this and changes her life and joins a progressive movement.

i have no sympathy for the neo-rich frivolous-living, alchohol-swigging, mythologies-believing, nationalist, capitalist indian middle class young professionals.

instead of drowning herself in alcohol in a pub she should have been plotting the downfall of all private banks in india and the indian software industry and working for the relief of the almost-daily suiciding farmers.

what the hell was she doing in some stupid job and subsequently spending money on alcohol and special food for her two dogs while people in rural india either eat grass rotis or are forced to suicide by money-lenders??

Yeah well he said some pretty weird things about 'Chowk' in the 'India developing' thread as if he's the only person who's ever set foot in that area of Lucknow. He made it sound like his relatives live in abject poverty because of the fact that they're Muslim. What a joke! But I'm not surprised... This kind of crazy talk is totally expected from the likes of him, jamahir and a couple of other cuckoos here.

To know Indian culture visit Khajuraho or watch a Rekha starrer movie "Utsav" you will sure gonna freak out :p:

'utsav' has many themes and i remember three :

1. the love story of shekhar suman.

2. the exploits of amjad khan who plays vatsayan.

3. the revolutionary, played by kunal kapoor, guided by his mentor, kulbhushan kharbanda.

about the last, is revolution really a part of post-1947 general indian culture"??

and the film was based on a old sanskrit play written after alexander the great's arrival in india and the greeks making contributions to india[1] in the arts and sciences, including drama :
Secondly, the curious open air theatre that came into being in this period was directly a Greek legacy. The term Yavanika for curtain shows that Indian drama, at least on one point, was influenced by the Greek model, Thridly, the Greek form of sculpture influenced the Gandhara art of the Kushan period. The school began in the Kabul valley where the Greek influence was the maximum. Accordingly tone author, the terracottas of toys and plaques were all influenced by the Greeks.

and the architectural science :
Probably the use of stone in buildings and sculptures by the Mauryas was inspired by the Greek practice of working in stone. Columns of the Ionic order were definitely used in the buildings of Taxila.

and the sciences of astronomy and medicine, plus the pseudo-science called indian astrology gets its origin here, via corruption of greek astronomy and via the greek mythology and superstitions :
Regarding science, contemporary writers admit the greatness of the Greek scientists. The Gargi Samhita admits that the Greeks were like gods in science and they penetrated into India as far as Pataliputra. Varahmihira, during the Gupta age was in the know of Greek science and used a number of Greek technical terms in his works, It is also argued that Charaka was influenced by the works of Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, but there is not evidence to confirm this view. Thus it is difficult to conjecture the extent to which ancient scientists of India were influenced by the scientific knowledge of Greeks.
Besides, Hindu iconography was greatly changed because of the Indo-Greek influences. It is difficult to say how many Babylonian and Iranian Gods were incorporated in Hindu religions. A few deities were taken over by the Parthians and they were adopted by the Kushans. But it is doubtful to say as to which of the Greek dieities were incorporated in the Pantheon of Indian gods.

and matters connect to self-grooming and social life :
Talking of social life, a number of Greeks figure as donors in the inscription of the Karle caves. The Greek mode of wearing hair and the habit of eating in a lying posture came into vogue. Also when some of the Indo-Greeks settled in India, they took to trade and they became affluent merchants. Even Tamil literature refers to Greek ships bringing cargoes, and the Greek section of Kaveripatnam was very prosperous. And some of the Tamil kings kept Greek body-guards.
note that the "indian" garment called sari has either origin in the greek/roman garment called toga or in non-hindu tribal culture.

Alas with the advent of Mogul and Victorian cultures we have lost it :hitwall:

yeah?? what happened??

and the mughals, and the turks, afghans, iranians and arabs before them, and the victorians after them, are long gone in their original form, so what are you suggesting??
