What are shrines .

The Shrines of Saints and Pirs, of teachers/scholars who by virtue of their scholarship and/or deeds are held by people in high esteem -- people visit their shrines and offer prayers and seek their intercession in the problems of their lives - many times at these shrines, food is offered and music is a constant

Ok, help us understand, exactly what is the "wrong" here -- Is it dancng? is it "girl? or is it girl dancing"?

And please help us understand what would be the "right" way to "celebrate"

Do as the Prophet did...Read Quran, understand your deen or pray...Other things you can do is pray for yourself against the hell fire....

If she is celebrating someone's marriage go ahead dance do whatever....Everything has a right time and place...

I don't know how it is not related to the topic. popularizing the video online will bring the wrath of self righteous fanatics who consider it their duty to protect their religion against blasphemers.

Only your type of mentality can think that far...

So Boys and Girls, for all those who took exception, Please explain what was so objectionable?

Either you get it or you do not. If you do not get it, no effort at explaining would help.

I find the mention of Nabi (Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in the back ground very distressing. If it weren't there, this would not be note-worthy.

I have respect for Saira Naseem. At a function a few years ago, she came to sing. During her performance, she asked people for their choices. My sister asked her to sing "Shah-e-Madina". At this request, Saira Naseem replied "Then we would not be able to continue this function". True to her word, the last number she performed was "Shah-e-Madinah". She and all the ladies attending the functioned covered their heads in reverence.

Saira Naseem, most likely a product of Shahi Mohallah GOT IT. Many here Do not. Pity.

Yes, increasingly only coersion works - outward appearances must be kept, the same with the beard - We are really are very muslim, possibly that's the reason we are afflicted with terrorism

So the prophet was able to read?? And Celebrate now means pray??

I very much take your point that you thought and think of music and dance as inappropriate but then you also think the prophet was a reader

We are asked to read he was revealed...You are not a prophet we FOLLOW his example...I know you are ONLY capable of trolling AGAINST Islam...

Thank you kindly do not quote/ mention me as I have nothing to say to you and am not interested in you games...

I see it a little differently. The way our media took off ten years ago, there seems to be little in the way of decency induced self restraint. This has had an effect. While many people are desensitized to what was considered indecent only a few years ago, some refuse to accept it. Of course we do not see people doing anything violent about it. But this does feed a sense of alienation from the current environment. Coupled with other factors, this sense of alienation is seen in 'confusion' w.r.t. WOT etc...

We as a nation are stuck between the hammer of militants and the anvil of liberals. I could write a book about this. Would be very apt for these times.

didn't two teenage girls and a lady were killed because they were playing in rain a couple of days ago?

Was it because we on PDF reported it? Was it because people disagree with it or was it because someone made their movie and it was based on THEIR family....

So, if this girl dies based on her family's thinking it is her family's narrow mentality...

Anyway, kindly do not mention/ quote me...

The victims did nothing wrong in any sense. They fell victim to a distorted manifestation of Pakhtoon honor code. Nothing to do with Islam, or Pakistan, or ideology. But everything to do with ignorance. Sort of like 'Witch' burning incidents in Orissa.

I can not imagine your motivation for bringing this up. Should you persist, someone will retort. India is not a country of angels.

actually it is an indian song, kind of like indian culture invading pakistan through movies and all..;)

Ayush there is more to it buddy. What you say is not important.

Precisely -- see our arabized crew exhibit attitudes that enable such murders -- The girl dancing is not an artist, heck no she's a prostitute, Dance, joy, fun, all these are, especially if women should engage in them, cause for murder -- see, it's inappropriate and we can't have different people expressing their love for the prophet in this way, they must express it the way we dictate or else, "there will be trouble" (Should you persist, someone will retort.)-- and these same people curse the talib without realizing how closely the attitudes match.

If even those innocent girls don't escape the madness of self righteous fanatics, what chances do these people stand? Unless you want a lynch mob behind these people, you wouldn't be discussing this issue.

.
They should have removed the banner. This is shameful, and before the Liberalism Satsi come and dump the "arabized" title on me, i am far from being a hard line Muslim, but i do fear god and the day of judgement. My judge and wali is god, what any man or woman thinks of me or my beliefs.... Frankly i couldn't give a flying sausage.

So yes they should have removed the banner, anyone who cannot understand or respect that, GTFO!

I do think its in bad taste or just a Faux pas to have that banner still hanging in the back while dancing to munni song. But it is irresponsible and could very well turn out risky to the lives of these people, in craziness called today's Pakistan.
