The problem with the Pak team is not bowlers - quite simply, it is classically trained batsmen. Almost all their batsmen I see play horizontal bat shots which looks nice on TV but at the end of the day shows that their defence is quite poor. The older guys - Misbah and Younis do play vertical bat shots and you can see that they are in a different league compared to the younger crop. I guess the reverse is true in India with bowlers - every now and then comes a prospect who bowls in the 140s but then quickly fades away or reduces pace to exert control. Most Pakistani batsmen are like Raina - they can turn a match every now and then but you can't expect consistency from them. Pak needs players like Pujara, Rahane and Kohli to go with the likes Shehzad and Akmal. But what is the reason for the drought? Surely, it can't be lack of international cricket.
