Epic fail .
I know the world famous players in major sports field.
And it is because I have an internet connection and have interest about these stuff.
And also Some Russians also know about Sachin Tendulkar.What I am talking about the majorities feeling.
There is majority crores of people in India who dont know anything about other sports except Cricket.
Some Indians even dont know about Sania Mirza.
But all Indians know about Sachin Tendulkar.That is the difference.

C'mon.. cricket is only limited to few countries.. & tennis is an universal sport. I don't see anything demeaning in Sharapova's response. It's like asking any Indian sportsman if they know about Babe Ruth or Dan Marino or Wayne Gretzky. I'm sure most of them won't have clue despite these gents being legends in their sport!

Correct , but do you think Americans will flood the page of Tendulkar if say for example he didn't know about Babe Ruth or Russians will flood Tendulkar's page if he didn't know about a Russain sports person ?

Its only you people who have this problem of getting hurt egos so easily be it tendulkar or anything else that others don't recognize about india. Its your national psyche it seems

Good point. India doesn't have too many sporting heroes.. & perhaps Sachin Tendulkar is the only one they look upto.. & hence this obsession. Whereas in countries like US, they are spoiled for choice.. & there isn't much obsession behind one individual. They have quite a few icons to choose from....
