Shahrukh Khan given ticket to Pakistan by Shiv Sena

******* stupid illiterate goon, nothing else.

pardon my language.

.
High time Shiv Sena gets thrown into the trash by the people of Maharashtra.

On the other hand - Shahrukh could have phrased his statement in a better way. He should have prefaced his support of Pakistani cricketers with a condemnation of Pakistani policies of hosting terrorist groups like Jamaat-ud-Dawa, United Jihad Council, D Company etc.

The problem is that the Shiv Sena is tapping into a legitimate cause which nobody else is taking up. And that is the desire for each state to preserve its own unique culture. Such fears can be seen in many metropolitan cities - for example the Kannada speaking people of Bangalore also show some anxiety from time to time.
Xenophobia is a legitimate cause?

The prediction that this would happen is the basis of why the Pakistan Movement even started.

How can attempts at regionalism be anything but short sighted, petty regional politics. Changing names of states / cities too falls under this .

On one hand we feel article 370 is discriminatory as it prevents Indians from operating at will in J&K while orgnisations like Shiv Sena are hell bent on creating the same at Mumbai level.

India is for Indians , religion , caste, origins etc do not matter.

Personally, I feel Mumbai should become a Union Territory. It will take a strong Govt in Delhi to do this - till then these local hoodlums will carry the day.

AA,

This remark is off the target, Xenophobia is abundant in what is now Pk too in various forms - Baluchis is one such example. It results from bad governance nothing else.

Xenophobia is there in every country, but I'd never call it legitimate. In Pakistan despite all the objections, Urdu, a language primarily associated with people who migrated from India is still the national language.

Its almost laughable each time Shiv Sena utters its Marathi mantra. It's like enforcing Sindhi upon citizens of metropolitan Karachi.

It's not xenophobia at all. In fact, it was recognized in India early on that the regional cultures need to be given space to develop and blossom - that was what lead to the re-organization of states on a linguistic basis.

India is like a garland, and each state is like a beautiful flower in that garland. India would be poorer if the Gurkhas or the Assamese or the Punjabis or the Tamils do not preserve their own culture.

Sometimes some protection for indigenous cultures is required if there is large scale migration from other areas. On the other hand it is also true that India is one, and each citizen has a right to the whole country. India needs to find a way to do both - this is a work in progress.

Its a global, multicultural, ever changing world.

Get on board or get left behind.

Cultures by definition are influenced practices. Every influence, every experience is supposed to change the culture. You being online is changing the culture.

We Indians do not mind flooding UK , US , Aus & NZ with ourselves but within the country resent ppl form other states even though they contribute to the economy of the state they migrate to.

In any case what stops the locals from doing the same job or competing for the same work ?

Strange isn't it ?

.
Shiv Sena is going to be very helpful for Pakistan in the days to come. They are doing exactly what Hindu Extremists did with Muslims before 1947.

Jay Hoo!

.
Sad fact is a lot of educate Marathi's agree to Shiv Sena's and MNS's crap.

I think we are mixing the IPL issue and anti-north Indian issue.

I case of IPL, it's not only marathi.....(thread is restricted to this one)...

However SS or any other doen't hold license to protest whoever is not agreeing with them....

The analogy is not valid. Do you think the Australians will allow themselves to be out-numbered in Australia by the Chinese, for example?

That is not a problem as long as the changes are not being forced.
