Shahid Afridi and Fawad Khan: Pakistan's ONLY international celebrities?

The girl who took a stand in most unimaginable horrific situation...situation where mature adults crumble normally. She remained there for 4 years in Swat valley before she got shot. And even after that episode she is still committed to her cause.
Yes of course. She is a brave girl.

I love this song from amanat ali.

all the Amanat Alis are 2nd to none in singing, you can only compare them against the ones in their own family because you wont find any comparision outside of their family

Is there any celebrity of Pakistan who is popular internationally other than these two? I am not counting Adnan Sami. He recently renounced Pakistani citizenship.

Here are two Pakistani celebs who are immensely popular in Bangladesh.

let me tell you this... in the last days of september, my face was distorted by a paralysis condition called "bell's palsy" that i got through a certain virus infection which generally happens in a cold place and for me it must have happened in a cinema hall... presently, medicines have removed the distortion to a large extent.

now i am not a greek god looker but still someone whose old-style looks, demeanor and stylishness many times have gotten second glances, long glances and side-comments from the ladies ( and admiring or angry-jealous from the males :D ) and i am used to it... the "bell's palsy" distortion gave me a realization ( not that i a socialist needed this to realize ) that looks can fade and change with change in circumstance and one mustn't judge someone on looks... i have retained my dignity, my intellect, my gentleness and my empathy despite the visible distortion on my face.

now this virus-borne condition could happen to anyone, including you, and unlike me what if takes a long time to repair or perhaps becomes life long?? what if people prefer to make excuses to make exit from you at the first opportunity?? what if facebook pages mention you as ugly?? :)

and what malala suffered is uncountably different than my medicinally-treatable temporary paralysis-induced face distortion.

@Aminroop @WAJsal @Zibago @django @Hello It's me - would you agree with me??

do you speak for every pakistani?? you don't even live in pakistan. :)

it is my belief that malala, when she has released herself from usa government's attempts to use her, is fit to be one of the leaders of south asia.

in the present situation, yes, she can't be... but one can hope and work for a common near-future of the subcontinent where pakistan's contribution can include her and fatima bhutto and perhaps mushy.

@jamahir totally concur with you in regards to Malala who frankly speaking is a world figure not just a regional one, who stands as symbol of courage for those who have been oppressed due to the barrel of a gun, she is a global youth leader when it comes to both female and male emancipation which can only be achieved truly via a good solid education.kudos

agreed and that would be a good step and great acceptance of progressiveism by the pakistani masses, as also being a great example to rest of south asia.

and i am also talking about five years from now when a changed global political situation ( including via the 100th anniversary celebration in 2017 of the russian revolution ) might make possible the imagination of a single subcontinental state... she would be easily a leader in such a situation.

this[1] is her...
In March 2013, Malala sent a message to the 32nd congress of Pakistani Marxists (the biggest of such meetings in the country’s history). Her statement read:

First of all I’d like to thank The Struggle and the IMT [International Marxist Tendency] for giving me a chance to speak last year at their Summer Marxist School in Swat and also for introducing me to Marxism and Socialism. I just want to say that in terms of education, as well as other problems in Pakistan, it is high time that we did something to tackle them ourselves. It’s important to take the initiative. We cannot wait around for any one else to come and do it. Why are we waiting for someone else to come and fix things? Why aren’t we doing it ourselves?

I would like to send my heartfelt greetings to the congress. I am convinced Socialism is the only answer and I urge all comrades to take this struggle to a victorious conclusion. Only this will free us from the chains of bigotry and exploitation.

This is the Malala the Western corporate media doesn’t like to quote. This is the Malala whose politics do not fit neatly into the US’ neocolonialist, cookie-cutter frame of presentation. This is the Malala who recognizes that true liberation will take more than just education, that it will take the establishment of not just bourgeois political “democracy,” but of economic democracy, of socialism.

Malala does not hide her socialist sympathies. “Socialism is the only answer and I urge all comrades to take this struggle to a victorious conclusion. Only this will free us from the chains of bigotry and exploitation,” she counsels.

When the courageous activist speaks of the importance of education and nonviolence, the West shouts her words loudly from the media mountaintops. When that same activist criticizes predator drones and, that most sacrosanct entity of all, capitalism, the silence is deafening.

Whaaat? You find her attractive? Her face is a total mess -- half a skull, lazy eyes, crooked mouth, fugly chin...every feature of it seems to have some nerve problem (bell's palsy maybe?).

agree to all, and "a good solid education" really is missing in the subcontinent because the first result of a education must be a liberated and enlightened person, but despite perhaps 900 million of supposedly educated people in the subcontinent since 1947, there have been less of the truly liberated/enlightened kind. :)
