Badal village readies for Shahbaz Sharif's visit
Badal: Pakistan Punjab's hopes of getting power from Indian Punjab was shattered with chief minister Parkash Singh Badal's denial for any such move, but Pakistan Punjab government is very keen to learn about its Indian counterpart's journey to self-reliance on power front. Pakistan Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit the newly-opened Vedanta power plant and a small biomass plant to learn the intricacies of power generation in Punjab. Shahbaz Sharif, according to sources, will land at Banawala village, where Vedanta plant is situated, on December 15. He will spend around 40 minutes at the plant along with CM Badal. He will also speak to the Chinese company SEPCO which has built first unit of the power plant.
Pakistan CM will then fly to Chunnu village in Muktsar to see the biomass energy plant. Sharif will later fly to Badal village and have lunch at Parkash Singh Badal's residence before going to his native village Jatti Umra near Amritsar. For this, Badal village is being spruced up and all the dusty alleys are being cleaned. "As deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal has instructed various authorities to maintain road cleanliness, the entire village is being decked up for the occasion", said Muktsar DC Paramjit Singh.
