What's new

Pakistan and China sign $4.8 bln nuclear power plant deal

.
  1. We have the oil mafia.
  2. Solar panels aren't exactly cheap.
They're slowly getting cheaper - especially for limited Private use
It's not the same thing as it was 5 years ago, them Chinese are good

At a national ofcourse - coal, hydro, nuclear is cheaper
Solars not the answer

Solar energy= domestic consumption especially for rural Pakistan it's a game changer
Hydel, coal, nuclear energy= industrial consumption
Electric vehicles over a period of time =reduce fuel imports.
  1. They-take up a butt load of space.
  2. Can only last 20-25 years, on average.
  3. We 'do' have solar power plants.

What we need is Kala Bagh Dam but sadly, it's been heavily politicized.

Who is Pakistan's friend then? China becomes an enemy just because China invests money while others don't, a very weird logic. what's good for Pakistan to go bankrupt, people higher up won't suffer, it's the general poor who suffer the most.

That's the point - Dictators of China are friends of Dictators of Pakistan. It is very similar to National Geographic documentary where we see two monkeys sitting and scratching each others backs.

The Netherlands is currently having an issue with too much energy due to solar power. The grid can't cope with the amount of excess energy being returned lol . And Pakistan is blessed with sun most of the time of the year We've got millions of homes, shopping centers and large factories that could be covered with solar panels helping them to function. And help the local economy stay open no blackouts

For the past 7 decades, China worked with every single Pakistani government regardless of how their politicians were at each other's throats, non interference foreign policy has been China's foreign affair cornerstone since day one, You just learned it now?
Besides, when was the last time China pressed Pakistan for returning money, even once?

Pakistan's debt to China is mostly only on paper.

The PAEC is all set to expand the footprint of nuclear energy as it has prepared plans to set up two new power plants — K-4 and K-5 — of 1,400MW each in Karachi, while two nuclear plants — M-1 and M-2 — of 1,400MW each are planned in Muzaffargarh, Punjab.

What model are these future 1400 MW reactors? CAP1400 or Hualong Two? The CAP1400 is based on the CAP1000 which is based on Westinghouse's AP1000 and is inherently unsafe. I hope both China and Pakistan do not employ this reactor without design changes to containment and the steel liner.

Not sure but doesn’t Pakistan already produce excess electricity?

. . .
But still China is the only country you can trust and it is the only country still investing in Pakistan.
Investing ? If people running the country too think it's investment that explains the present state of economy. Sorry
