What I believe is BAL is no. 1 r$azakar b$astard party in Bangladesh (starting from 1962/63). For BAL all other parties had to be like it. Jamat's problem is they collaborated in genocide during our Liberation war and other than Muslim no one can be with this party because of its religion centric politics. Banning both these parties there might come one environment where people can support a party.

Now I tell you a fact hard to believe. Tofail once told my friend that there's no democracy in both BAL and BNP...if there is democracy in Bangladesh, it's only in Jamat. He's been late to feel this fact after being alienated by the younger ones who took cabinet positions. Now guess how hypocrite our politicians are...he is still acting before people.

Jamaat is also free from family based monarchy style politics to an extent.

Yet people want them dead yet they cry for democracy every day. What's the problem here?

. . .
I don't want the Jamaatis dead.I want those who massacred people in '71 dead!

Are you implying to the ones who actively participated in the massacres and in combat? Who knows? They may already be dead. As in killed in action. Though a rag-tag force, the Mukti-Bahini were by no means an ineffective force.

However, it still needs to be verified through investigations that may have to go beyond Bangladesh. I doubt all the information are here.

People like Bhutto, Tikka Khan and Yaha Khan are long dead.

Again, lobbying against Bangladesh's creation is a different matter.

Slogans, songs fill air on 8th day of protest
2013-02-12__shahbagh2.jpg

Like previous days, people from all walks of life irrespective of age, sex and class gathered at the protest venue wholeheartedly since the morning to express solidarity with the protesters.

The students of Philosophy Department of Dhaka University also joined the protest in the morning.

Our correspondent also reported that the students of different schools and colleges of the city were seen coming to the Shahbagh venue.

They were joining the demonstration chanting various slogans demanding capital punishment for all war criminals including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah.

Prof Abul Barakat, chairman of Janata Bank, visited Shahbagh in the morning and expressed his solidarity with the protest.

Barakat said he appreciated the way by which the new generation has been launching the movement.

The protesters also bins a rumour that they urged the countrymen to refrain themselves from celebration Pahela Falgun, heralding the arrival of spring, the king of all seasons.

The demonstrators under the banner of 'Bloggers and Online Activist Network' started the protest on February 5, hours after the Jamaat leader was given life imprisonment in a war crimes case.

Though the 'Bloggers and Online Activist Network' started the demonstration, soon it transformed into a people's movement.

The protesters on Sunday submitted a six-point charter to the Speaker, demanding death penalty for all war criminals including Mollah, and revocation of the state's power to grant them amnesty.

The other demands include an amendment to the International Crimes Tribunal Act, allowing appeals against inadequate punishment and disposal of appeals from both the defence and the prosecution within three months of their filing.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the same day thanked the youths for raising voice against the 1971 war criminals.

On Sunday, the members of Bangladesh National Cricket Team joined the protest and expressed their solidarity.

The organiser held a grand rally at Shahbagh intersection on Friday where tens of thousands thronged and called for the death penalty for all war criminals of the Liberation War.

Not in combat.........they were military and had orders........but the ones who were our people, betrayed us and killed or actively helped to kill innocent people...i don't like em!

Some ppl here u cant make them understand what u want or what ppl want or what happened, they will just play same broken records.
Not all of them u know whom I referring to.

Bangladesh awakens in silence
Shahbagh+01.jpg

Millions of people across the country held a three-minute silence at 4pm on Tuesday in an unprecedented show of unity with the Shahbagh movement pressing for execution of all war criminals, including Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla.

On Monday, the protesters from the centre stage at Shahbagh, now christened Ganajagaran Mancha, called upon the people to stand three minutes in silence to express their solidarity with the movement that demands death penalty for all war criminals.

The Shahbagh protesters continued their demonstration for the eighth straight day on Tuesday.

Tens of thousands of people imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War started to converge at the protest venue, which is known as ‘Projonmo Chottor’, from noon.

There was then a 60-second countdown in the Ganajagaran Mancha. The huge human gathering at Shahbagh came to calm after it was at 4pm.

Lucky Akter, a frontline activist who with her fiery voice has been leading the slogans for the thousands of youths at Shahbagh, broke open the silence at 4:03pm.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, CPB leader Muhajidul Islam Selim, Former Vice-President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Mahfuza Khanam, top cultural personalities like Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu and Ramendru Majumder stood in silence for three minutes at Prajanma Chattar to express their solidarity.

The Members of Parliament expressed their solidarity by standing up in front of the south plaza of the Parliament Complex.

Tofail Ahmed, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, ASM Firoj, Segufta Yasmin Emili, Mainuddin Khan Badal, Mujibul Haque, Khan Tipu Sultan, Mamataz Begum, Tarana Halim, Fazilatunessa Bappi, Shahriar Alam, RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Ataur Rahman Atik, Abdur Rahman, Murad Hasan and Tanvir Shakil Joy were present there.

Cabinet members, Secretaries and all other officials and employees of the Secretariat also observed the silence programme in front of the Secretariat.

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Yafesh Osman and Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipankar Talukdar were, among others, present.

The leaders of the ruling Awami League-led Grand Alliance also observed the silence on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar.

The left-leaning political parties like Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BaSaD) observed the silence in the city’s Paltan.

Bangladesh Bank officials, led by Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman, observed the silence in front of the central bank in the city’s Motijheel.

Students and teachers of different colleges and universities, including Dhaka University, also observed the programme.

Before 4pm, traffic movement on the streets in the city came to a halt as the people irrespective of age, sex and class started pouring out on the streets to join the solidarity gesture.

bdnews24.com district correspondents reported that the similar silence was also observed across the country.

The weeklong protest has also prompted solidarity protests by non-resident Bangladeshis at their respective cities abroad.

Blogger and Online Activist Network initiated the nonstop protest at Shahbagh intersection hours after the International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Feb 5 sentenced Jamaat-e-Islami leader Molla to life in prison for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

Hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life expressed their solidarity with the young men and women by joining a massive rally last Friday. They also took an oath to continue their movement until Molla is awarded death sentence and vowed to fight anti-liberation forces like Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.

They also pledged to boycott all business and social organisations, including media outlets, of the party.

The movement has already spread across the country and even to the Bangladesh diaspora abroad.

The Jamaat had opposed Bangladesh's independence and sided with Pakistani troops during the 1971 Liberation War, in which three million died and more than quarter of a million women were dishonoured. The Jamaat activists staffed the auxiliary support forces of the Pakistani army like the Razakars, Al Badr and Al Shams who masterminded the mass murders. Exterminating the Bengali intelligentsia was their main target.

Jamaat is a key constituent of the BNP-led 18-Party Alliance.

The BNP has been claiming that the government is trying to use the war crimes trials for its own political purpose, describing the Shahbagh protests as a 'stage-managed drama.'

But Parliament, where the Awami League-led coalition enjoys a huge majority, expressed solidarity with the Shahbagh movement on Sunday.

Speaking at Parliament and Prime Minister Hasina thanked the youths for raising voice against the 1971 war criminals, and said her government would execute the oath thousands of protesters took at the Shahbagh grand rally last Friday.

She said the tribunals would deliver judgments according to the law, but they should consider the people's expectations while delivering verdicts on war crimes cases.

On Monday, the Cabinet approved the draft of International Crimes Tribunal (Amendment) Act-2013 to allow appeal against ‘inadequate sentence’ in war crimes cases.

SHAHBAGH SQUARE- BROUGHT FASCISM in Bangladesh

Charter submitted by Shahbag mob to Bangladesh national assembly speaker asked all newspapers, media, business and banks which has opposition bias or has Islamic name to be BANNED, including banning Jamaat –e-Islami Bangladesh which enjoys significant support from general population. It is important to note that Islami Bank Bangladesh is largest private commercial bank and IS NOT owned by Jamaat but a publicly traded company owned by shareholders. According specifics, Shahbagh mob demanded to ban Islamic Bank, Ibne Sina, Focus and Retina coaching centres and media outlets Diganta TV, daily newspapers Naya Diganta, Amar Desh and Sangram and Sonar Bangla Blogs.

Youths submit do-list for JS
The charter also calls for a ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami and like-minded religion-based political parties, anti-liberation forces and collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces.

Besides, all businesses, socio-cultural bodies and media outlets run by war criminals should be banned, the charter says, naming Islamic Bank, Ibne Sina, Focus and Retina coaching centres and media outlets Diganta TV, daily newspapers Naya Diganta, Amar Desh and Sangram and Sonar Bangla Blogs.

Source: Youths submit do-list for JS

Beyond formal demands of banning, this mob gathering orchestrated by india and facilitated by Awami League regime asked to attack these newspaper, media and Banks and to kill anyone supporting Jamaat in Bangladesh.

These fascist cry to eliminate opposition voice and business institutions with Islamic name are reminiscent of fascism by Nazis which led WWII. Soon after fascist incitement from Shahbagh, Bangladesh, Islami Bank branch was set fire. Daily Amardesh which had exposed Awami League regime corruptions, Indian aggression and interference and expose so called war crime tribunal gross violations, came under attack.

Now another newspaper Daily Nayadiganta which was threatened by shahbagh mob in Bangladesh, came underunder attack. Yesterday, Shahbagh mob set fire in Daily Nayadiganta office. In majority Muslim Bangladesh people who wear hijab and young people who keep beard, regardless of their political biased, are in fear of attack from Shahbagh incitement.

I don't want the Jamaatis dead.I want those who massacred people in '71 dead!

You are indirectly. You are supporting a fascist movement. Soon or later you will find out that you are wrong. Fascism lead to destruction. Bhakshal didn't last that long. Mujib thought he was untouchable yet we know the end game.

In this thread, you mention that you wear beard which means you are a practicing Muslim. Do you know that this rally organized by anti-beard and anti-hijab groups(anti-Islamic). If you had gone there to join that rally then perhaps you would have been beaten to death(mistaken you for Jamat-shibir) and then mob would have dance on your dead body while shout 'joy bangla'. Yes, we already seen it yet you still supporting such group.

Initially this rally started with hang to death of Kader Mollah and now they are demanding to shut down any business linked to Jamat-shibir including Bangladesh Islami Bank.

So you know, when all other bank is failing, Islamic bank rising to top. Islamic Bank has been instrumental to Bd economic development since it's inception. So fall of Islamic will impact Bd's economy.

Amar desh, noya diganta news outlet has been attacked. Awami people are forcing vendor not to sell these news paper. Some place cable operator already stop airing Diganta TV and today some Awami people set fire on Diganta tower. So it's the beginning of greater destruction.

Bakshal two on the making............;)

So far tribunal could not prove anything against Jamat leaders. It's all based on: he said, she said, I was told by some one else, my cousin heard this and that from some one else. No witness came forward and say, I saw him did this and that. This Awami Kangaroo court is being managed by known murtid like Shahriar kabir and muntasir mamun(cousin of awami thug Moka alamgir).

Take an example of Allama Syedee. He was elected from Firozpur(his birth place) twice as MP in national election. why would people vote for war criminal? :what:

Again, lobbying against Bangladesh's creation is a different matter. Yes, we know they oppose separation

Does Awami supporters know that Hasina's daughter married to grand son of great anti liberation leader(r#azakar commander)?
