Featured SH15 Artillery in Pakistan

.
PA tends to keep its procurements under the veil of secrecy for some time. I will not be surprised if we have a unit or two operational already! Maybe our resident experts can shed some light to it.
The 2017-2018 MoDP report says the PA took delivery of 1,300 VLAP rounds. So, it got the shells, it's just waiting on the actual SPH to fire them. I guess we'll read about it in the 2018-2019 MoDP report.

For a layman like me, what is so outstanding about this gun?
SH-15 is said to be a user-friendly system, with fully automated mode of change from drive-mode to firing-mode all done with the press of a few buttons.

The 155mm SPH gun is on a highly mobile platform with strong off-road performance.

The whole SH-15 system is compact and highly transportable.

From parked mode to battle-ready mode it takes just 1 minute. That's pretty quick.

The gun is said to have very good accuracy, all managed through a sophisticated digital fire-control computer. The aiming of gun is controlled automatically through the computer while target information is also received and programmed in automatically.

The SH-15 can fire a variety of advanced guided shells, such as satellite guided artillery shells, laser guided artillery shells, and terminal-sensitive missiles, etc.

SH-15 can fire WS-35 rocket-propelled projectiles. These are crazy ultra long range, guided, gliding projectiles which can reach a maximum range of 100km -- easily able to suppress the Indian K9 155mm SP guns, long-range rockets, short-range tactical ballistic missiles. etc.

This purchase is a major boost for PA's artillery capability.

How SH15 fare against SH1A and PLC181?

We need to buy Light Weight Towed Artillery too. We seriously lack in this department

I'm not sure about what options PA is looking at for LWTA but it might be worth looking at the Chinese AH4 155mm which is comparable to the British M777 155mm.

SH-15 is an improved export version made from PLC181's technology. It's also more accurate than SH-1.
