SH-15 Self propelled howitzer under trials by Pakistan army?

. . . . .

Read your own link.

The SH15 has a maximum firing range of 20 km with standard ammunition and 53 km with 53 km with a rocket-assisted artillery projectile. This artillery vehicle can be operated by a crew of five. According to some military sources, the vehicle will have a maximum weight of 22 tons.

SH 15 needs RAP ammunition to achieve a range 53 Km, its range just 20 km with standard ammunition.

Where are India artillery achieved a range of 47.2 Km in its test with just a normal base bleed ammunition.

Nora b-52 maximum range of 56 was very impressive to me not to mention their munition auto correcting guidance feature with latest variant.

But if this is a chinese weapon Then its all more reason to purchase it . we should support chinese weapon firms as much as we can. Chinese weapons are the weapons of future

Please provide a quote or link stating that the OFB MGS can achieve its range of 42 km using standard ammunition.

The older PLZ45 (based on the AH1 towed howitzer) can already achieve 39 km using ERFB-HE-BB ammunition, so there is no reason to think that a newer system will have significantly less capability.

Keep in mind that a gun's range is as much a function of its ammunition as it is of the gun system itself. The SH15's 53 km range with RA projectiles doesn't preclude it from achieving similar or even higher ranges when mated with certain shell types.

It is your link which says, that only with rocket assisted projectile can it achieve a range of 53 Kms .

So, you tell us- how much its range with a standard base bleed ammunition ?

There is nothing to suggest that only rocket-assisted projectiles can achieve ranges of 53 km. As I've stated before, certain shells like the WS-35 can achieve ranges of 100 km; it depends on the specific model of the ammunition used, and since the older PLZ45 can achieve 39 km with base-bleed ammo, there is nothing to suspect that a newer-generation gun couldn't.

Thats what I have been trying to explain, maximum range of an artillery shell is a function of its calibre and the type of projectile used.

A 155 mm 52 caliber gun will give similar range, when same kind of ammunition is used.
May that RAP, HE ERFB BB or a conventional round.
