SH-15 Self propelled howitzer under trials by Pakistan army?

Tit bits:

= VT-4 and Oplot -P, both are not coming despite better performance in the second leg of trials. No decision made on Al Haider as focus is shifted to Alkhalid-1 and the next gen Alkhalid-2. Funds have been released for both.

= SH15 has bright prospects to be chosen as the next wheeled howitzer for PA, has performed better than Nora B52.

What is the expected timeline for the development of Alkhalid-2 ? I find it would take another 5 years before next battle tank is ready for production, and then another 4-5 years before they are produced in sufficient numbers to meet requirements. So why not cut the timeline short, get something off the shelf while keeping own developments going as a "second leg" to talk on?

A5 which Pakistan acquired a decade back are 39 calibre, where as K9 has 52 calibre barrel, there is big difference in range of both.
shayad hoga.......but M109 is still a vietnam era weapon.....i thought it should be reminded to u....plus Pakistan has 100s of them, regiment after regiments..........What practically u have acquired today is something our generations have been trained upon....just like yr and ours C130s which we r using since 1962-63.

What's the ROF on that? Anything above 5 r/min and that's a killer machine right there...
4-6 rounds/min according to ArmyRecognition.

SH15 has a 52-caliber barrel.

Requirement is 500 SPG's?

In Armoured Warfare, Range is tricky due to constant maneuvering. Artillery has to keep pace with tanks all the time. If you are still bothered by the range, the new SPG by PA should be able to match K-9 range.

Here is a better pic and specs

Range 50 km is impressive
Laser homing and many good feature.
PA is going for precision strikes.
If this SPG can keep pace with armoured and mechanized forces for offensive and defensive Ops which means a good engine and cross country performance in terrains like desert, semi-desert, small hills and plains , then its worth it, I would consider range as secondary importance.

SH15 has a 52-caliber barrel.

means average 5r/min.

That's one 155mm shell pounding the shit out of enemy armor or infantry columns and concentrations every 12 sec.
a couple of these firing at the same spot can be like death raining down from heavens.
And those long barrels should be fairly accurate even at extreme range, and not to forget at a more horizontal angel of trajectory which builds up a hell of a lot of kinetic energy on the way.

This SP-15 which Pakistan plans to procure from China is 155mm - 52 calibre gun but it truck mounted gun( and not a tracked chasis like K9), similar to India's own Mounted Gun system - 800 of which are being acquired by the army.

it's characteristics?
then we will see that it's on par with this new acquired monster SH-15 of Pakistan.

Looking at this image it seems that SH-15 is under trails by PA.

The image shows PA, PLA and technicians from both Pakistan and China.
How many of these MGS will be purchased by PA?
I think neither India nor Pakistan currently operate any truck mounted howitzers.

means your army doesn't have them inducted yet and will be undergoing furthers trials and same is the case with our sh-15 which is yet to undergo winter trials and few things in which we can say that sh-15 is better than your is range of 50km which is more than yours.

Take Chinese claims of its maximum range with a pinch of salt.

Besides both the guns have 155mm 52 caliber barrels, so their ranges will be very similar.

you yourself have claimed its maximum range to be 48km while sh-15 has a slight edge with 50km range as known from the event.

There is no edge, Chinese are just rounding off their range to the nearest zero, both the gun use similar barrels their maximum range will be also be the same, with same kind ammunition.
