Seven Pakistani soldiers killed in bomb attack, firefight.

Its sad happening but like always the US leaving the region in mess leaving other countries to deal with the mess it created

.
The roadside bomb casualties could have been avoided if the soldiers weren't riding on pick up trucks. We really need good armour in numbers for our jawans to ride in. I suggest the Uqqab

I added the total number of people killed in the year long campaign as shared in the report posted by OP. I was not specifically talking about army casualties.
You, sir, you are prejudiced against the flag under my name, which clouds your judgement.
I'm sorry to see you took it the wrong way.
how would any **** take this as positive buddy....dont act like you dont know what you did....:nono:

Really sad incident.

10 killed today, and as the report says, 3350 killed in year long campaign.
Only brute force will not work. It is necessary to bring the insurgents back to mainstream as well. There has to be reconciliation and rebuilding also.

Wow...talk about exactness. So 3000 insurgents and 350 troops, eh? Not a single civilian or are they by default clubbed with insurgents.

It's in the best interest of India to keep Pakistan under constant terrorist attack. So I would not be too surprised if India back these terrorists.

Such fat, ugly, and plastic woman you have as your DP. Is she even a woman?

What hurts really bad isnt that these men laid down their lives. They were meant to do it. That is their job. They quench the thirst of this land with their blood and will continue to do it.

problem is, they are doing it for a nation where the majority doesn't appreciate it. oh yeah we at PDF sure as hell appreciate it. but does an average pakistani does? These men are laying down their lives for people who can not care less, people who still believe that our generals are also bought by the US, that this army is not ours but that of punjab, that this operation is meant to wipe out a certain ethnic group.

One can only salute the courage of our Military. I once stood up for my class mates. but they stabbed me from the back and this single attack drained all my energy to sacrifice anything for them in the future. i guess that is the diffence between a civilian and men in uniform.

North and South Waziristan, Khyber, Pakistan

Military officials in Pakistan say a firefight with Islamist militants near the border with Afghanistan Sunday left four soldiers and 12 insurgents dead.

The army’s media wing says “fleeing terrorists also left behind 3 of their dead bodies."

The fighting occurred in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan, a semi-autonomous tribal region where major counter-militancy army operations are under way.

Earlier, a roadside bomb in the same region killed three paramilitary soldiers and wounded six others. Officials say the attack in Raghzai village targeted a military convoy.

Pakistan’s military says the year-long counter-militancy campaign in Waziristan and surrounding areas has so far killed nearly 3,000 insurgents while more than 350 troops also died.

Army commanders say the offensive is now in its final stages and is trying to eliminate the remaining few militant pockets. But independent verification of the official claims is difficult to ascertain.

The operation is targeting the Pakistani Taliban, an alliance of extremist outfits waging a bloody insurgency against the state.

Army officials acknowledge that troops are meeting fierce resistance in the Shawal Valley of North Waziristan where fugitive commanders and fighters of the Afghan Taliban until recently were entrenched and organizing cross-border attacks.

When US marines invaded okinawa at end of world war 2; 2 weeks of fighting that ensued left 70,000 US marines dead.. japanese casualties were 240,000 in 2 weeks...

Losing 350 soldiers in one year is painful, but put it in perspective...we learn from our mistakes and move on...learning is essential a complete dissection needs to be done as how this happened and how this can be prevented ...equipment training drones air support all need to be re visited...

But you dont get dis hearted by loses...we can and will sustain these loses for next 100 years if need be...khwarij cannot be allowed to win ....period

Shame on you if you think dropping them from helicopters or killing their families will solve your problems. It's about time you get real and know how these operations are conducted.

I think you have been misled if you believe that we have been conducting operations that way. Firstly, I could not kill an insurgent's family even if I wanted to, Pushtun Society is highly collectivist and they will gather around their own even if he is the wrong when the question of family is concerned, killing someone's family is the last thing we want.
Secondly, killing someone by throwing them off a helicopter is too expensive an affair and leaves a mess on the ground, it is complete overkill when a bullet to the head accomplishes the same end.
