The first store in Ho Chi Minh City drew a big crowd.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- Seven-Eleven Japan on Thursday opened its first convenience store in Vietnam, making a foray into a largely untapped key market.

Vietnam, long protected by regulations, is said to be the last frontier in Southeast Asia for convenience stores. Seven-Eleven is Japan's top operator with 19,579 domestic stores, and seeks to bring its "conbini" culture, as it is known in Japan, to the youthful country.

Good, I'm waiting for VAV
Ha ha ha that's not funny. But seriously speaking VN has no chance because the Japanese adult entertainment totally dominates Chinese market.

Looks nice in ao dai. Japanese girl Rika Takeuchi, 26-years-old actress selected as "Miss Vietnam" in Japan.

Wow late to the party much. When is blockbuster coming to vietnam BTW? [emoji13]
Better late than never. We want to catch up with other advanced nations by copying Japanese civilization. When? The first 7-11 shop just opens yesterday.

Not cool. She wears pants and skirt.

Why don't call it 0/24?
You probably don't know it: women were forbidden to wear pants in Germany not long ago. There was a long fight for the women in equality.

I hope 7/11 not gonna kill local vietnamese convenience store by dominating the market in the future

7/11 is a convenience store founded in the US. It is not some aspect of traditional Japanese heritage.

A Japanese company acquired 7/11 in 2005 I think.

7-11 is founded by John Jefferson Green where he start selling eggs, milk in one of the Southland store. That where 7-11 come from.

7-11 was named so it reflected the trading hours (from 7 am to 11 pm, hence 7-11) Japanese Ito-Yokado grocery store bought 70% of Southland in October 1990, thus owning the 7-11 franchise, the parental company now controlling 7-11 (Seven & I holding) was form in 2005. And formally take over all-7-11 world wide operation and administration in 2007.

I used to love 7-11 Slurpees as a kid.
