Serbia-Kosovo conflict

I don't think Vucic is pro-EU. Although it split from the ultranationalist Serbian Radical Party in 2008, the Serbian Progressive Party is essentially a synthesis and a shift to a diplomatic tone. The Serbian state has many economic and infrastructure problems. The shortest way to overcome these is EU funds and institutions. The investments made in Greece and Bulgaria are evident, and the Serbs, who are part of the same region, also want to benefit from this fountain.

While nationalist movements all over Europe find wide bases again after a break of almost a century, and populist understandings are starting to shape local politics and voter preferences: It is impossible for a country with a sociology like Serbia to isolate itself from this. On the contrary, there is a much more established understanding

There are things in Serbia that the government cannot control. These are of a nature that will overthrow your goverment if you fight against them.
From what my Serb friends have been posting on Facebook the last...what,4-5 years? More? Vucic and his government are very controversial and often unpatriotic. They had created controversy about discussions for joining NATO or the EU etc.
But I don't think Vucic is that stupid. People would rise up and destroy his government. But then again, his fanbase would vote just to get into EU for money and "prosperity",just like Ukraine was tricked :P

Meanwhile,Kosovo after American "freedom"

NATO Kosovo Force says 'prepared to intervene if stability is jeopardized in north of Kosovo'

Pristina's decision to replace all Serbian license plates is causing tension in northern Kosovo. This afternoon the sirens sounded in all the cities of northern Kosovo where the Serbs are in the majority.

Two arterial roads leading to the administrative border with Serbia were blocked by Serbs who set up barricades by placing heavy trucks perpendicular to the road. The Serbs blocked the roads after receiving information that the special forces of the Kosovo Police were heading towards the administrative border with Serbia. This information was denied by the commander of the northern sector of the police of the city of Mitrovica, Besim Hoti.

In the northern part of the city of Mitrovica, the Serbs are demonstrating in the central square at the same time in the southern part of the city, according to press reports, the Albanians are also preparing rallies. Strong police forces and soldiers of the international peacekeeping force KFOR have been deployed along the Ibar River that separates the northern and southern parts of Mitrovica.

The Ministry of Defense of Serbia denies all the information spread on the Internet about the entry of the Serbian army into Kosovo.

Obviously, I'm on the Kosovan side. However I feel this might be US inspired to pressure the 'pro' Moscow serbian government.

Timing really suspicious.

This is what we call a show, the dramatic climax occurs with gunfire. There is no possibility Serbia can invade Kosovo, NATO is there and the Americans would never allow it. Also, there are no serbs in kosovo.. maybe a few thousand in total. Who would settle those lands? Serbia is already essentially empty and they have negative population growth for decades so there is no way they could make use of the land. Also, Albanians are no joke… wouldn’t be a cake walk and the war would probably never be winnable.

The Albanians are enforcing their laws that belgrade disagrees with so they create this nonsense - as is the current example with license plates.

The only way serbia could imvade kosovo is if the americans give them the green light and that will never happen especially now since serbia is Putin’s lapdog in the balkans.

Let’s not forget Vucic was mentored by the serb radical Vojisalv Šešelj… here is a video of Vucic visiting front lines around Sarajevo during the Bosnian war. Even though Vucic appears level headed he is low key a nationalist.

No wonder serbia is the only country in Europe to keep air traffic open with Moscow and refused to impose sanctions.

Serbs should learn diplomacy and avoid force given force has cost them a lot in the last 30 years.

Guys let’s not forget Serbia is home to 6.7 million people. This is a small country - western Istanbul has more people lol. Just a reminder that we are not dealing with a big country here or even a big war if serbs were crazy enough to go to war again. That would be the worst for serbs who only number 5.8 mil in their own country.

Kosovo postpones for one month the replacement of all Serbian license plates

The Kosovo government announced
in a press release that it had decided to postpone decisions on replacing all Serbian license plates and Serbian ID cards for a month, until September 1, after Kosovo Serbs blocked the roads.

Kosovo's decision to postpone its decision for a month came after communication with the US charge d'affaires in Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier.

As i said this all a show by vucic. He knows Serbia can’t do anything.

If true, well played by the Americans. This is a win by vucic and he can run back and celebrate in the polls. Also, a balancing act by DC as to not appear one sided as the serbs claim.

I have been to Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, and I want to talk about my understanding of Kosovo.

1. Kosovo's economy is very poor. Of course, all the economy of the entire Balkan region is bad, factories are closed, young people have no jobs, and there is no hope. But Kosovo is the worst.
I even have a feeling of coming to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. Both Pristina and Pyongyang give me a sense that the government is trying to pretend to be prosperous but is full of flaws.

2, Kosovars are missing the Yugoslav era, and several Kosovars I have met have this idea. They believed that Yugoslavia had a better economy, everyone had jobs, and the government was more honest. They were free to travel to any country.

Who would settle those lands? Maybe Serbs who were kicked out or had to leave after Kosovo got independent?

Albanians are a joke against a modern, organized army. And if the Americans gave the green light,Serbs would have taken back Kosovo. Maybe in a few weeks, maybe in a few months, but they would have taken it back.

There was a nice Greek documentary about Kosovo in the mid-2000s. Life there was extremely poor, the Kosovars didn't even have enough electric power and Kosovo became infamous as the crossroads of Europe for arms black market, drugs and crime.

At least Pyongyang is more stable!

serbs never really lived in large numbers on lands known as kosovo. In 1991, albanians numbered 1.9 million and serbs 100,000 basically 19 Albanians to 1 Serb. Who got kicked out? Sorry but the Serbian army started ethnically cleansing albanians in 1999, and given the lessons learned in the Bosnian war, the international community with the US at its helm knew the belgrade/milosevic playbook and immediately intervened to stop another genocide. Serbs, however, primarily inhabited the northern regions of Kosovo (2-3 towns), and they are still there ,today, causing problems lol.

It is a mountainous region, Albanians would resort to guerrilla warfare. Also, Republic of Albania is in NATO and could/would intervene if Albanians in Kosovo were being killed en masse.

Exactly, Belgrade didn’t give them money and purposely kept them poor, mistreatment, employment discrimination, suppression all was common during the YU era against Kosovo Albanians. The one thing that forced the Albanians to fight back was the final move by Belgrade and that was actually killing them after the aforementioned mistreatment tactics did not force the albanians to leave.

Oh god from conspiracy theories to Pyongayang as an example of stability.

Yes Yugoslavia under TITO was great, after his death the Serb minority in YU got ambitious.

That's because Tito let them in and then granted them autonomy.

That term "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide",you keep throwing it around all the time. But of course your western European and American friends started all this in their newspapers and speeches.

Why don't you tell the people that Albanians started this by attacking Serb police and Army and even civilians? Why don't you tell them everything about Adem Jashari for example? And other drunkard gangsters and clan leaders?

No 🤦🏻‍♂️ The documentary was about Kosovo AFTER INDEPENDENCE.

Example of stability compared to today's Kosovo, not the whole world, read what I'm writing.
