RAWALPINDI: Security forces on Tuesday killed at least two terrorists during an encounter in Kech district of Balochistan, ARY News reported, citing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media wing, the security conducted and an intelligence-based operation on terrorist hideout in Mazaband mountains in Kech. At least two terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with the security forces.
ISPR said that these terrorists were involved in killings of civilians, extortion and attacks on the security forces.

A large cache of arms and communication equipment have also been recovered from their hideout, said the military’s media wing.

Earlier on July 26, security forces had foiled a major terrorism bid by killing a key terrorist of a banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) near Turbat.
The media wing of the military troops had said in a statement that the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan personnel had conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Buleda tehsil near Turbat.
A key terrorist of a banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had been killed in the IBO. The security forces had also recovered arms, hand grenades, communication equipment and locally-made landmines from his possession.

My heart is torn, they were kids from Pakistani families and were Pakistanis, it is a shame they were influenced to follow this route of violence.

We need to get rid of the leadership ASAP, and go after their backers, so poor kids will not have to be in such situations. I cant help feel they were still my brothers, brothers do wrong things and they did, but still my Balochi Pakistani brothers.

Cmon dear... These are not death traps.... These are perfectly good vehicles.....

Tomorrow people might call tanks as death traps as well once they get started to be hit by ATGM teams. It's much difficult to get out of a tank then a Toyota hilux.

No one can equip a whole army with MRAP.
moreover, MRAP doesn't have the cross country mobility and ability to go on steep slopes like a normal Toyota does.

It's just the nature of COIN that casualties occur like this.

On the contrary janaab how many ATGM hits can a MBT take before its rendered useless or until it can direct its turret for counter fire at enemy positions? On the other hand these toyotas would not be able to withstand even one as seen many times. Same is the case with a land mine or IEDs. On top of that as saw on Pak Iran border when bunch of terrorists took our boys by surprise, you see in this you dont even stand a chance against Aks.
I agree on the mobility part though tanks cant be used but what about things like Muhafiz? They are locally made i assume? Cant they be used? As for the cost, building more units should help achieve economy of scales .

But then, it's not denying your point.....the protection of infantry soldiers on the move against terrorist attacks..... Which still remains a weakness and gets exploited.

Toyotas are not completely useless they are meant to be used in environments with less threat. They are meant to be used in open terrains and unpaved dirt tracks where there is a less or no threat of IEDs.
Decked out Toyotas are used by Western SOF in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria for long range patrol...
MRAPS are used in high threat environments...

It may be harsh but there's a mentality found in top brass of our Military regarding it's lower cadre. Extra High expenditure on 1 Star Brigs and above ofcrs can be managed by reducing the perks offered. Of course, this won't alone help us building more armored 4x4 vehicles. However, many such fazolkharch can be eliminated to boost the other side which also includes the useless Tambola functions as well as Wagah show. Both of them take a great amount of money. I may be sounding extreme but I'm a frequent offroader in Balochistan and absolutely aware of it's terrain. It's sad to see our soldiers being exposed like that.

I disagree with you to some extent. MRAPS V-Shaped hull are designed to take beating. They may not be functional after a huge IED explosion but they save lives.
See this video for example. MRAP fly's off at surprising height and distance.
Guess the number of casualties by this IED blast. Surprisingly only 1 guy died. This happened back in 2015 to ANA MRAP. Again they are designed to take beating and save lives.

Another video showing a US MRAP flipped after IED blast. Surprisingly you can hear soldiers calmly checking on each other.

Now, if all these defenders and toyotas are replaced by MRAPs, then the new problem being faced will be that how much they'll be viable for operating on the Eastern Border for conventional ops.

There, we have Kashmir's mountain terrain, plains of Punjab with canals, boggy patches, crops, desert sector with its heat (imagine sitting in an MRAP for hours in the desert) etc.....

So we have to get MRAPs over and above our authorization....which qw cant do because, simply, MoD wont allow it. Therefore, we are looking for them from US surplus in Afg.

Valid points.

MRAPS should only replace pickup trucks on Western border. Only for those units who are engaged in Operations and Patrolling.
MRAPS with DXM suspension are coming which are specialized for steep paths and mountainous terrain.
There is also a room for MRAPS in Conventional war lets say in Pinjab Region.

Imagine sitting in Tanks , IFVs and APCs in Thar desert for Hours

Nobody is asking to replace all hiluxes with MRAPS but only those which are on patrol duty in the afghan border region and Baluchistan trouble are where IED threat is greater. How many vehicles are in patrols in a given day in those areas, 40, 50, 100, 200? So the excuse of no money is not tenable but it is rather question of mindset and to take initiative to overcome a problem....
