Second Language for Pakistan

If today Pakistan opts for a second national language what would you want it to be?

Ye mou or masoor ki dal?

You obviously have no idea how education works. INNIT? Harry potters like you are still cleaning toilets at The Heathrow Airport while speaking manchester style English. So good luck with building bridges, rockets, motorways, and cars while you got the plunger in your hand..

Languages do not make civilizations. It is the people. You need to give people an identity that they can be proud of. You need a civilization that you can model. Which civilization is the greatest? It is definitely not the old jolly roger..

Islam is not for sale. Its a way of life and maybe you shouldn't have sold it so quickly.

Whoa Whoa This what I despise a lot of Pakistanis why cant we get along with people who may have slightly different opinions than we do real big weakness we have as a people we jump on people who might think different than us but in general we all want the same thing how to make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country where we have mutual respect for each citizen

Nah homie, I live in the DC suburbs with hella Mexican homies.

I live in part of Queens,NY where its mostly ex Soviet, and Russian Jews with loads of Chinese around here

Islamic region, there is 500 million Arabic speakers already, in theory Arabic could rival English if everybody knew it. Urdu is useful because it is somewhat intelligible with Hindi, one of the biggest languages in the world, and they both share same/similar alphabet.
In Pakistan, English is the official language at educational institutes and government offices. While Arabic is nonexistent, learning Arabic would have made Pakistani's competitive in the Middle Eastern market, but that didn't happen. The spot for the second language rightfully belongs to English.

Let's try to learn our mother tongue first our population is turning more burger as the days go past and please keep your ambitions off introducing arabic or Persian to yourself

Accommodating Biharis in East Pakistan was one of the reason to choose Urdu however it backfired when Bengalis found it difficult against Biharis to climb up the ladder in the civil services.

Lets be realistic..Urdu is here to stay.. What we can do is based on the need and interest adopt a new language
Like EU has people learning multiple languages starting from early childhood we can learn something here.i spent my early childhood in Europe, we were taught three languages..A human mind is capable to adopt 3-4 languages very easily.
Something similar can be experimented in Pakistan.I say start with the following 4 languages ,Urdu,Persian(Dari),Turkish and Arabic. We can add Indonesian and other languages with time.Lets make Pakistan the switzerland of this region. It improves our regional connectivity.

That’s just what I was thinking, Pakistan is a bit like the Switzerland of the region because it is at a crossroads of Central Asia, Mid East & South Asia. So 3 language policy should be there as a minimum.

Correct but the Migrants to the GCC are not becoming citizens, they are just cheap labor for the Gulf Arab states the diaspora in the Anglospshere are tax paying citizens who can deepen ties with their host nations and Pakistan by lobbying our narrative plus they more highly educated more likely there than in the GCC

Adding East Pakistan was mistake Bangladesh should have been independent in 1947 would have saved us from the events of 1971

I agree Urdu is here to stay but I would like for our nation to know Dari and Farsi at least we can then fully move westward and become a true Eurasian state

*BTW do you live in Turkey atm

Dari is logical, but how many people have historically spoken it in the land of Pakistan? Languages are either established by force or neccesity. If Pakistanis had a lot of business interests, need to travel to Iran/non Pashto Afghanistan then it would be picked up naturally.

I think at this point in time, we should promote our regional languages. I also think the Kashmiri language channel should be established by Pak (the actual one spoken in IOK) as a side note.
