Since Iran already occupies the undisputed the role of Shiite leadership, while Saudi Arabia obviously occupies the role of Sunni and Arab leadership. So Turkey will find it difficult to find a place for itself in this regard, being neither a Sunni nor Shiite power, and more of a secular western oriented country, something that doesn't particularly appealing to Islamist groups in the region either.
