Does anyone else truly believe like I do that not only the Typhoon but the Rafale are nothing more than expensive F-16 block 52's ? Why did the Saudis choose the Typhoon? People say because of bribery but that is going to happen with any deal in Arabia, that's their business culture, I've done deals with Arabs as well and bribery is a percentage of all sales. Not just Arabs but Africans and Asians especially pacific rim and pseudo-2nd world nations expect bribes.

Besides having an extra engine, what does it have that F-16 doesn't? Don't tell me supercruise when that is only achieved by a clean configuration and useless in war time .

Okay lets see....Umm. How about MBDA Meteor which will give the typhoon a BVR ability when the US declined the sales of their BVR missiles to Saudis due to Israeli pressure. Also superior Avionics. Superior maneuverability. Longer range. Can integrate stealth settings in the future (Eurofighter Typhoon 2020 program) While when we offered to buy 200 F-16s the US would only agree with (Keeping the military balance in the region) so we went and bought a plane along with it came technology transfer too.

So the typhoon is a major F U to the US by Saudi Arabia.

Oh and did I mention it can also carry the storm shadow??

Dude I agree with you the F-16 is one damn aircraft and I wouldn't mind it joined our air force but I told you why we went for the typhoon. Besides while the F-16 will be saying goodbye to the skies sometime around 2025 the typhoon will still have more good 10 years on it. (If the typhoon 2020 succeeds in integration of stealth updates for the aircraft.)

If I learned anything from the few days here is that everyone looks down on saudis stereotyping and condescending them and calling them the enemies.
I was really really disappointed by some of my pakistani brothers here.

There are good and bad people everywhere man, you can judge a nation of 180 Million by a few people. I have had some rough experiences in Saudi but I don't hold any grudges. I just say that those specific individuals were not civilized enough and do not represent all Saudis

I'm surprised to see Pakistani forum members getting over the neck of Saudi Arabians like Mosamania. Indians - I can understand, but Pakistanis - it makes me sad. It is true that Saudi Arabia has committed some blunders, but always support your Muslim brothers no matter what. Don't side with the non believers by breaking the bond of your Islamic Unity.

Yes u r quite right about pakistanies why they keep on hitting on saudies, just like we never elected our corrupt leaders again and again and never committed any blunders.

As of the indian they write the hate text and might sent the whole link to arabs to show how ppl of pakistan hate arabs or saudies.
