Late on Wednesday, controversial Saudi preacher, Ahmed Bin Saad Al Qarni sparked outrage on Twitter after he shared a thread of offensive tweets basically stating that "women instigate men to rape and assault them."

The offensive remarks came in tweets that saw Al Qarni comment on a video of Saudi women getting into a car with men.

The so-called preacher, who claims to be a member of Amnesty International, wrote: "Yes, women are the cause of adultery and sexual harassment."

In his first tweet, the preacher shared the video he was commenting on, captioning it:
"If he rapes her, she'll come home crying over her dignity. I swear to God, women are the cause of harassment and adultery. Look at the woman in this video, she's the one who stopped the man driving the vehicle, and she's the one who got into the car with him."

Al Qarni's attack on women didn't stop there, in a second tweet, he wrote:

"A woman who leaves her house wearing make-up and perfume is an adulteress. A good woman who's wearing a kitchen apron will never leave her house looking like that."

I wish we could pretend that this is just one harebrained misogynist who is not worth our attention but he actually epitomises a wider societal tendency to victim blame and normalise rape and therefore this insidious rhetoric needs to be called out.

This Saudi preacher said “I swear to God, women are the cause of harassment and adultery. A woman who leaves her house wearing make-up and perfume is an adulteress'. Apparently it is women who, through their clothing and lifestyle, ‘make men go mad’ and cause the rape themselves so ‘don’t blame men’.

If your natural bodily response to the sight of make up or smell of perfume is an urge to rape the woman then you should either castrate yourself or lock yourself up in a cage, far, far from the nearest female population. Or better yet, do both.

Regardless, let us all be objective, what do us men think when we come across women in tight/skin hugging clothes or skimpy dresses, in bikinis or transparent/revealing clothing? We do actually enjoy it, let's not be angels here. Some of us go a step further, we pass lude comments, even if amongst ourselves, we discuss their assets even by merely admiring their figure and attractive bodies. We do cave in to our primal instincts which are merely bound by community, our social circle, law and religion.

Women are one of our most fundamental requirements, basic needs. Most likely, we are not one of women's most fundamental requirement, a woman can never ever think like we can, she can never feel what we feel when that hunger roars. When days become weeks and weeks become months, the animal instincts climb to unprecedented levels. That is when the weak amongst us cave, indulging in prostitution or worse.

On the other hand, when we come across even one of the most prettiest of faces, in a conservative (actually moral) and decent clothing, the heart and mind simply refuse the regular impulses and primal thoughts. Perhaps this is why women who do not wish undesired advances, dress so 'oddly', like nuns.

Ofcourse measurement of morality is variable and relative to situations, religion, society, family values etc. However, we can be certain, the nuns have something going for them. In other words, women in moderate clothing will shame even the most vilest of men whereas the same women in 'enlightened' clothing might incur the vile men's unpleasant gaze......and worse!

He may have failed to articulate his message properly but even if he did articulate it in a much more linient language people like @Divergent and @Vapnope would still find faults in him simply because he is a muslim who does NOT speak the language of the religion of liberalism & feminism.

I am pretty sure alleged predators like Harvey Weinstein (allegedly) only raped & harassed women who made themselves available to him with skin tight clothes and seducing perfumes. Human nature and biology does NOT conform to the non-sense of feminism and liberal and feminist sensitivities. Allah (swt) created humans with certain basic instincts and requirements and He (swt) in His divine wisdom also ordained laws regulating how the human society should express those instincts and meet requirements. If you just go back 60-70 years, western societies frowned upon women who dressed immodestly or flirted with strangers. It has everything to do with the attire of the victim. And the filthy attire of some women encourages sexual harassment of others who might not be in wrong attire, and kids and women in abayas. It's called spreading the disease called sexualism which was purposefully spread around the world to mislead the youth and bring about a one world government.
