Pakistan Nuclear Programme has been supported by Chinese and during the Cold war i mean during the soviet Invasion of Afghanistan , Pakistan was supported by United States and Saudis but with time those relations are at odds because of the changing regional realities.

United States and its allies are concerned because of the growing Chinese power and here Pakistan, North Korea and Myanmar are working completely with the Chinese where as GCC are under US influence along with India.

Somewhat simplistic analysis, but we are straying off topic so I will say lets agree to disagree in some points and move on.

Visiting KSA by Modi definitely has to be done before visit to Israel....otherwise other way around will be very awkward and counter-productive given Arab sentiments toward Israel.

Anyways let us see where this whole fiasco with this diplomat goes in the next few days and weeks.

It will be solved within some days because this Vienna diplomatic convention issue is being going on since many months.

MEA is aware with what sort of problem they are dealing.

You are again proving that you are nothing but an idiot. Do you think all 1.2 billion Indians think the same way? I don't represent all Indians, if you are talking to me address ME.

@Maira La Seems his stupid comments have been deleted but nonetheless...
The Rohingyas were the first Jihadis of the 20th century, pre-dating the Afghan jehad. They started their bullshit in the mid-sixties - an armed inserruction against the Burmese state. The Rohingyas had grown steadily in number after seeking shelter in Burma, and like most places where the religion of peace goes, once they crossed a numerical threshold started making all kinds of demands. At first they wanted autonomy within the Arakan state; later they started demanding their own laws and persecution of ethnic Burmese followed. Large-scale ethnic cleansing of Buddhists from Arakan and the subsequent spread of Rohingya insurgency to other states finally forced the Burmese military to clamp down.

No one asks a simple question as to why the Rohingya are so unwanted despite their plight being highlighted so prominently? That is because everyone loves a good jihadi, but sane people tend to avoid them like the plague. Pakistanis can keep shedding copious tears all they want, keeping the Rohingya locked up in their villages is the only feasible solution right now.

Guys lets stay on topic. Enough with the side topics introduced because of some trolls.

damn it what it means in reality is if a diplomat is beast like this saudi one then he will go scot free for even heinous crimes like a r.ape

You have to understand that diplomatic immunity works both ways, so while the Saudi diplomat is protected, so is an Indian in Saudi Arabia.

Remember the Devyani Khobragade case? She had immunity that is why she didn't face jail time...otherwise she was a goner for a long time. India simply puller her out. If she goes back to the USA without immunity, i.e. as a recognized diplomat, she will arrested and charged.

Host nations have the option of accepting or refusing a diplomat status. But then again, it is a two way street.

I agree, but I personally feel there should be no "absolute" diplomatic immunity when the crime constitutes things like Murder, sexual assault, torture etc as opposed to underpayment of labour, verbal abuse/threats and other such crimes.

I feel the most severe crimes must not be covered under the diplomatic immunity and that Vienna convention must be changed to reflect this internationally.

If an Indian diplomat for example is doing such a thing (raping two maids over 1 month and subjecting them to gang rape and torture too)...I would expect India to waive his immunity, prosecute him in India or extradite him back later to face the prosecution for such a crime. This goes for any country in the world. It is basic human dignity after all.

Which crimes are this abhorrent that this can be done (that diplomatic immunity cannot be invoked) would need to be agreed upon internationally of course.

.
The bastards name was "MAJID". Can somone dig up his photo from the internet ? Facebook or linked in or something ?

I found one Majid Hasan working for Saudi Embassy in Delhi, but he is clearly not the person as he is too young.

Well, that's how it is. Immunity is, immunity. If you try to restrict it, where do you stop? 99% of the cases, the diplomats will do their job fine. But you will always have some psychos who abuse the immunity.

Plus, diplomatic mail is not checked as well, meaning the embassies are also, in effect espionage locations. So you really cannot stop it all.

Thats the part that I think needs to be re-opened for discussion internationally.

As far as the espionage thing, thats completely fine for countries to engage in, my concern is only for direct physical crime of the most severe order only.

The Tamil Hindutvadis ethnically cleansed Sinhalese from the North, and the subsequent spread of the insurgency to the southern half forced the Sinhalese Army to clamp down on the Tamil Hindutvadis. Everyone loves a good Hindutvadi, but sane people tend to avoid them like a plague.. :coffee: But still, the non-hindutva civilized world never called for the rape and murder of the hindutva tamil women and children, unlike you indians .

If you look at the LTTE highest cadre, you will quickly realise they are not very religious at all and there is also a significant Christian presence among them at all leadership levels. The crimes of pogroms, cleansing were done on an ethnic line rather than religious one. Expulsion of Tamil Muslims form the North by LTTE was also done not because they were muslim (or non-hindu) but because their leaders did not support a Tamil Eelam. Prabhakaran actually later apologised for doing this in hindsight.

BTW, take this discussion elsewhere, many of your comments on this thread have already been deleted if you haven't noticed.

Don't get so serious, my response was as 'factual' as that guy's post. ;)
At least what I said was close to the truth - Tamils did take up arms and terrorize people. On the other hand, Rohingya.. Jihadi.

Well whatever this is, take it to another thread.

There has been an active Rohingya separatist movement ever since Jinnah rejected the demands of Arakan Muslim league for joining Pakistan.

Refer to the base links at:

Rohingya people - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As far as I'm concerned Rohingya decided to start this whole thing with the Burmese way back....and having failed are playing a big victimization card seeing how Burmese have decided that they dont belong in Burma as a result of the separation movement/demand.

I don't care if its called jihad/freedom struggle or whatever. Fact remains that Rohingya should have accepted Burmese soveriengty and worked to integrate in that country rather than crying bloody murder after giving it their all to separate against a heavily autocratic and now militarized racist state to begin with.

If you want to open up a thread about comparing Rohingya and Tamil Tigers, please do so. This is not the thread for it however.

I agree mods should do something about that post with the photo of an innocent embassy worker.

Well yes, we're getting off-topic. So my last post on the Rohingya issue.

We can discuss the history in another thread, but for now I'd like to point out the fact that most Indians have little or no knowledge about Arakan history - they simply choose to support the ethnic cleansing because the perpetrators are Buddhists, supposedly "Dharmic brothers"!

However, they are completely oblivious to the racist nature of Burmese riots. Since you like to quote wiki, I'll end my post with an excerpt from wiki:

Wikipedia/Burmese_Indians said:
In May 1930, a British firm of stevedores at the port of Rangoon employed Burmese workers in an attempt to break a strike organized by its Indian workers. When, on May 26, the strike ended and the Indians returned to work, clashes developed between the returning Indian workers and the Burmese workers who had replaced them. The clashes soon escalated into large-scale anti-Hindu and anti-Muslim riots in the city. Over two hundred Indians were killed and their bodies flung into the river. Authorities ordered the police to fire upon any assembly of five or more who refused to lay down their arms, under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Within two days the riot spread throughout the country to locations such as Maymyo.[9]

;)
So much for dharmik brotherhood! :p

Honestly this sounds more closer to ethnic based conflict rather than religious. Still I am curious what is the status of these people today, as they actually are immigrants.

.
I would agree with @SHK, that riot seems to be ethnic. I mean Indians whether hindu or muslim would seem the same externally to Bamar right?

I am by no means saying what the Burmese are doing is correct or good....but neither is what the Arakanese were doing for dozens of years before that any better. I share empathy with both these sides....it is unfortunate that people cannot unite and strive together against the common issues....if the borders are artificial relics by the British...so what? It all comes down to fear of the "others" at some point....a trait all humans have....and one that is viciously exploited when people have no education and little to lose.

If it were up to me... borders, tribes, ethnicities, religions whatever...they should mean nothing to first being a good decent human being....trying to improve yourself and those around you. So Muslim Arakan should have been content in staying with the country they are in rather than trying to secede....similar to how I feel Pakistan should have been content staying as part of Indian union to work together rather than thrust this two-nation theory stuff down everyones throat and expect it to stick (which it notably did not do in 1971).

Finger pointing, fear, ignorance all lead to the racism and hate in the first place...but what has been done is done...at least we should move forward now...but some just cannot forget and have lost any trust and kinship toward the "other" completely...and hence this mess we find ourselves in all around the world especially where there is still poverty and ignorance....and the treachery of politicians to benefit from it.
