Saudi Aramco today launched a joint venture for the international marine industries with Lamprell PLC; National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) and Hyundai Heavy Industries ltd.
The project will provide one of the world's largest maritime integrated service complexes, with completion by 2022.
The new joint venture will localize important workshops in Saudi Aramco's supply chain associated with offshore drilling and shipping, reducing costs, response time and increasing flexibility for Saudi Aramco and its partners.
The complex will be able to manufacture four offshore drilling platforms, build more than 40 vessels, including 3 giant oil tankers, and serve more than 260 marine products annually.
Saudi Aramco's Supreme Vice President for Finance, Strategy and Development, and Chairman of the International Marine Industries Company, Eng. Abdullah Bin Ibrahim Al Saadan, said: "The global marine industry will serve Saudi Aramco's strategic goal of becoming the global leader in energy and chemicals through Meet the company's needs of production and shipping."

During the event, senior executives of the company were appointed, including the appointment of Engineer Fathi Bin Khalifa Al Sulaim as President and Chief Executive Officer.
"This joint venture will be a regional hub for maritime services and products and will compete globally. Through a combination of technology, integrated facilities, and supply chain efficiency, we will redefine what partnership means with our customers for progress in the marine industry.
Major production and services are expected to start in 2019 and the project will be fully operational by 2022. The project will contribute to the development of national expertise in the field of marine industries and employment generation.
