Latin is an important sounding dead language and it finds its place in prayers and mottos. Sanskrit is similar.

This composition is only meant for Carnatic Music recitals or Bharata Natyam (or Kuchipudi) dance repertoire, it is in appropriate to be sung in a educational institute. Funny how Indians appropriate Tamil culture but deny Tamil its rightful place or recognition, unlike countries like Canada or Singapore

If Tamil is a qualification, then Oscar recipient AR Rahman's soul stirring Sufi song which has a better reach and international admirers, should be played in all Indian institutions

The institute is in Tamilnadu not Sanskrit Nadu or Hindi Nadu, hence it has to abide by Tamilnadu govt state rules. If such Institutes wish to act independently than they can get out of Tamilnadu.

When is playing mahaganapathim (a composition by Muthuswami Dikshitar ) made norm in Central Govt Institutions ? This objective in breaking of protocol is to insult Tamil through Sanskrit, by using a Tamil composer's work .
