So the people who were amongst the Prophet(saw) himself aren't a good example to follow? Who do you want us to follow the current Muslim leaders? Lol

how about following your own conscience in the light of The Quran and the sunnah. the problem is that we weren't there with the companions and between them and us is an ocean of time of around 1450 years. and you guessed it, no cameras or videos from those days either to where we could verify what their lives were really like and we have to rely on thousands upon thousands upon thousands of "scholars", every single one of whom claims to be oh so pious that they would never ever lie to you nor try manipulate you. the icing on the cake is that YOU DON'T KNOW THOSE SCHOLARS EITHER! they REALLY could be pious. or perhaps they had a hidden agenda. Or maybe they were emotionally affected due to some personal tragedy that had a negative impact on their literary work. WE JUST DON'T KNOW. as a simple example, I present the example of Imam Ghazali. Great scholar, hands down, yes? but guess what, he is also one of the reasons why science and mathematics came to a dead halt in the Muslim world because he had labelled number crunching as the work of the devil. the entire western world holds him responsible for that. but LITTLE known fact (little in all caps on purpose), during the time when imam ghazali made that fatwa, he was going through a very deep, emotional, personal struggle, deep in sorrow and depression due to a personal tragedy that deeply effected him to the point where he had become somewhat of a hermit during that time. Now, whatever had traspired in his life, all the sympathies to him, we can't label him as someone who willingly labelled math and science as the work of the devil for we all know that depression can negatively impact one's ability to be rational. so once again, we cross the bridge that should we just take the word of so many scholars out there throughout our history ESPECIALLY in light of what The Holy Quran says about blindly following your "elders" of the past; WHAT IF THEY WERE WRONG! Wouldn't life, as a Muslim, be so much simpler if just simply stick with The Holy Quran and the well known sunnah? For issues that arise in the society, we will move forward as a society through discussions an sharing opinions and building a consensus, simple as that. I think that's a no brainer.

That is blasphemy, you have not read the Quran with understanding. Islam is religion of submission in faith and worship to the unseen Creator.

Quran 49-13 O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Aware.

You are not a head of state. The Prophet governed Medinah by a written Constitution or Charter and he had the right to fight wars.

Are you a head of state with the right to send people to war? Are you a Prophet? How do I know your cause is righteous and provides justice. The Prophet conquered Arabia in a few years. According to an estimate, he spent total of six days on the battle field.

and? it doesn't take much to recognize injustice now does it? We follow the example of how The Holy Prophet (PBUH) dealt with injustice and tyranny. We define injustice, tyranny, fitna and fasad as it is defined in The Holy Quran. Just takes an open mind and some concentration to see what Allah SWT considers and injustice, tyranny, anarchy, fitna and fasad. and if a true Muslim leader sees it and recognizes it, he should proceed against it with a military jihad being the FINAL option if all else fails.

you will know through my actions. that's a chance every nation ever has always had to take. Prophethood has ended but Allah is forever. So know that Allah gives power to whom He wills and takes it away from whom He wills. simple as that.
