Salmaan Taseer's Son Kidnapped from Gulberg

Taseer was an arrogant fellow who pissed many in his life, somebody has very smartly exploited the situation i.e the Governor is dead and religious fanatics to be blamed for anything happens to their family , and the blame ultimately goes on religious fanatics as anticipated.

If he has been taken for ransom, they surely has got their hands on a jackpot.

.
Taseer.. for his personality flaws.. stood up for something right.. in an incorrect manner.
His arrogant comments.. cheap shots at Mullahs(reported) and intoxicated critique of Islam was bound to land him dead..and his killer a hero to the ignorant masses.

he could have taken up the case with respect.. he could have worked quietly on having the law amended.
instead his boorish attitude landed him with a magazine full of 9mm's.
Each and every one of his guards wanted him dead.. only one did so.. and no one stopped him till he emptied his last shell.
Just standing up for a woman doesnt land you that much hate, he was making on and off statements that would have irked his guards, and when it comes to Islam and our Prophet, even I have to admit that an initial cataract falls over my judgement on what has been said and why till one calms down to think.

.
Before we talk about religious extremism this is primarily an issue of law and order, or the lack of it.

What's the bigger issue, or the most relevant one - is it religion or dysfunctional institutions?

.
These people hire **** loads of Guards for their protection and bullying the innocent on the road etc.......in the end they turned out to be their worst enemy.

Trust no one.

Sick thinking in a sick society. How to make things better? Why don't you stop putting faith in vengeance and apply law instead? If the response of the authorities is unsatisfactory, set up your own accountable system on the local level and challenge them to meet your standards!

Stop feeling sorry for the likes of Pakistanis -- let them bleed, they will either learn or they won't. Either way, they don't need any stinking help - just watch, they will come by themselves, on bended knee, begging for "help" - thus far they are all "mouzlums", after all, Islam unites - like nothing else, don'tcha know, just wait, they will either come to their senses or not.

Then we must accept to be hostage to your judgement, at least till you have time to think -- Could Mullah not have done exactly what you suggest Taseer should have done? Sometimes it's best to take the time to think - what you have done is become tremendously popular, but you can be sure, no one in the opposition would ever think that killing you off would be the way to answer your post - that's reassuring isn't it? and no need for what passes for indignation to pass over to allow you to think.

The issue was, is and will be an issue of 'governance'.

While the murder of Taseer probably would not have been prevented from 'good governance' alone, effective and independent law enforcement, prosecution and judicial institutions would go a long way in cutting down on crime and allowing more people to speak their minds freely, and take to task those who promote and/or perpetrate violence.

When people can't even speak their minds freely out of fear, how can society change through widespread dissemination of new ideas?

Easy Musey.. lest you find thyself bayoneted by a "mazloom" Hizbi Pakistani cabbage in Birmingham whilst enjoying some deep fried cod and tapas. They might even make a video of you on the new Samsung galaxy S2 cuz ix cost em a packet which he would have rather used to buy some weed to nod off .. see.

Pakistan's populace is sitting on the brink of what shall be its identity for the next ten years.
Deciding on what is common between them.. and holding that dear and displaying "acceptable" tolerance for the rest.
Or deciding on what is different between them, holding that dear and committing the final hara kiri for this country ripping each other apart.

Here's the difference.. I would think over what has come to pass.. and regret my haste in anger.
Would a Mullah?
Would a secular Taseer have done the same..?
Do you seriously expect a person who cannot wait in line to purchase fruit to have any understanding on how to act when he feels an issue which he considers himself as the sole guardian of is threatened?
would you walk into Ireland and start bad mouthing the Irish.. expecting to walk out unharmed?

Taseer was drowning in his own power, he felt invincible with his police escort, his friends in the government and establishment.
People like you and me will react differently when they hear a personality they hold dear being ridiculed.
We will try to ignore it at first.. and probably continue to think negative about the person involved in the slandering but move on.
Now if that person is question happens to share a car-pool with us.. will you tolerate it??
Would you tolerate such a person say bad-mouthing one of your family members unjustly every day of the week while you drive him to work?
Could Taseer's guards have DARED to reason with him? Would he have listened or have the chap posted to FATA or thrown him in jail for the worse??
Would have Taseer have even reasoned with you or me??
We have luxuries to pamper us,daily lives to maintain.. our need to maintain our dignity vs our need to be able to afford an Iphone teeters here and there.. we have things to lose.
Here is a man who clearly felt he had nothing to lose.. He had not seen the world nor was has yours or mine exposure.
His religious thought was defined in a concrete but narrow manner.
So he did what he thought was right and let a arrogant man have it with twenty grams of lead.

Tomorrow if I have to go and ask for reform in the madressa's.. I sure am not going to be the fool and tell them "ALl you Mullah's are B'tards and Ill throw you out.. you watch me"..
Even if I have to eventually throw them out.. Ill use tact and guile to deal with such people.. not a bottle of "progressive" views and a slice of "Governorship Gouda".

.
It's interesting all the "tact" is on Taseer - and all the taking of indignant action on the muzloums - That seems to me to be a sure way to lose to the Muzloum.

.
Somebody told me that two persons that detained by police have been released.

. .
This most likely has nothing to do with Muslims nor Islam, this most likely is pure criminality motivated by the want for ransom money. In essence greed. If something happens to a liberal or secularist in a Muslim country a Muslim or Islam is automatically to be blamed.

You people talk as if Islam supports kidnapping.

.
it appears for certain people (left wing liberal fascists) violence and crime is only that which is perpetrated by the mullahs/religious extremists in the name of Islam and the only form which should be condemned and given attention to.

For instance, look at Karachi and it's political gang related violence based on race - the brutality of which I would say even taliban would take a hint from. As if indiscriminate firing at people wasn't enough, they had to kidnap them, mutilate and decapitate them before and after they were murdered, stuffed the remains in gunny bags to be delivered to their respective race areas. And how do the lefties see? it's a gang war, it's understandable - never mind the fact that majority of the victims were innocents who killed and abducted by rival parties.

Now look at the reaction from the same people on the abduction of shahbaz Taseer. We're not even sure if the religious extremists are involved, it may very well be the people he had personal disputes with. But since his father's death was religiously motivated, lefties quickly point all fingers at mullahs with extreme reaction. And of course our western members and our 'friendly neighbors' jump at the opportunity of islam based violence.

Look at Nadeem F. Paracha for instance - how many articles didn't he write these last three years on taliban violence and suicide bombing etc condemning the mullah and religious extremist mentality, trashing it and rightfully so. Now do you know how many articles he's written on this Karachi violence? just one - and that too was about how peaceful the city was during the 70's and that's it. He didn't have the guts to point to out the factors involved in targeted killings and condemn them as fiercely as he did talibans.

Now look at certain members here on this forum, in this thread. Same mentality. They'll condemn one form of violence vehemently and with outright disgust but will come very close to condoning the other form of violence which is more acceptable and understandable by the society.

I find these liberal fascists extremists just as bad and condemnable as their religious extremists counterparts. Both follow a set agenda. And both should be stayed cleared of. Best wishes and prayer for Taseer's safe return home.
