For this to ever happen ,India needs to settle all disputes with its neighbor`s and also realize sovereignty and learn to co exist with all other wise smaller countries will move towards balancing of power

we won't have to settle anything with Pakistan . we already as supply settled them with Big portion of our Mother Land. So except Pakistan all other SAARC will take help from India. The slot at 119° has already been allocated, and SPARRSO will have everything in place to manage the 40+ transponder sat. The new Bangladeshi satellite will give Bangladesh full coverage for 15 years, with additional capacity for growth and lease capacity too.

The proposed SAARC satellite will only be duplicating what we already will have from 2017, and as the main reason of getting our own satellite system was to not rely on others for services, what advantage will the SAARC sat give?

No it is unlikely to be free, and how is it supose to be more advanced? First of all the proposed SAARC satellite isnt even on the drawing board, its just a proposal from modi.

Bangladesh wants:

1. To create its own ICT base, thats why its building the worlds 5th largest data centre in Bangladesh.
2. Control its own communication network, cable base stations, satellites etc
3. Stop paying third party satellite com service providers for services (indian, us and european).
4. Self reliance, and techno industrial growth.

The SAARC communication satellite will be designed by ISRO, built by ISRO and managed by ISRO. It will just be duplicating the function of BD-1, and will give us nothing additional, and make us dependent on india/ISRO.

I guess you are reading the wrong article ,Bangladesh has shifted to US ,Afghansitan leased from EU ,Sri Lanka Chinese ,Pakistan Chinese Beidu .You have to understand this type of behavior has lead to countries seeking other foreign countries help ,regarding seeking help ,we will see when the day come`s for that .

Yes. It's free. It's mentioned as a gift to SAARC from India.
SAARC satellite is not ready but when launched in 2018, it might be based on ISRO new gen architecture architecture. Example GSAT 11. This one satellite will have 5.5times capacity of BBangabandhu and also much higher speed and band coverage.

The dispute can not be settled with the neighbors who do not want to settle the dispute. You try to improve the relations, they will cut your soldiers head.
