If they can rebuild them then they can certainly make the Erieyes communicate with JF-17s as well. God knows what capabilities PAF has, might not be ideal for us keyboard warriors by hiding capabilities. A lot of people end up ranting PAF brass is incompetent but reality is PAF maintains a edge and keeps it secret for the enemy to be always guessing or have a false sense.

Rebuilding a frame is not the same as tinkering around with a radar systems and electronics is it?

Rebuilding a frame is more difficult because flight systems are the most difficult aspects of a plane. Updating a communication protocols for commonality is something doable. PAF already sources datalinks from a western source so not far fetched and surprised if not attempted.

But I would not go as far as saying, "For the first time in history, Swedish SAAB AWACS were built from scratch by another country, even to the disbelief of SAAB itself..." -- that's not even hyperbole, it's just false.

Are you suggesting it has been done before? When and by Whom?

Nope, I'm saying the following statement, "...Swedish SAAB AWACS were built from scratch by another country..." is inaccurate. PAC conducted an extensive repair of Saab 2000s, yes, but it didn't build the airframe or any major aerostructures from scratch. That said, PAC said it wants to manufacture a civilian airliner for domestic and regional needs, so maybe restoring the Saab 2000 production line (at PAC), perhaps with an updated engine, could be the way forward.

All PAF assets and GCIs are equipped with link 17 and RTDL terminals. Hence, every asset is aware of ongoing situation at the battlefield and can share it to others using both indigenous solutions. The data can be shared using various means.

Essentially, the ZDK can share and exchange the data from Erieye via indigenous solutions and vice versa. So, whether the link 16 data can be shared or not, the real time picture of the battlefield is still available to all without any hindrance.

The capability was put to practical use on 27th Feb and seemed to have worked near flawlessly with a few adjustments to be done here and there.

Hope it clears the confusion of data sharing between assets once and forall.

Pakistan is not buying 6 ERIEYE just for a limited F-16 fleet. The JF-17 is datalinked with the Erieye. No question about this.
Yes, this makes sense. Bcz these planes normally flies for multiple decades. F-16 will be seen for one more decade ata max.

Let's not run away with presumptions here. Rebuilding the frame requires structural engineering. Rebuilding the electronics would require having the blueprints for components that even Saab doesn't manufacture, not to mention a semiconductor fabrication plant. When they say they rebuilt it, they mean specifically the frame. This was shared in a television program where the relevant engineers were interviewed and shared the capability with the nation.
