S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems delivery to India can begin in 2020

And still every one is saying about S450 and 6000 missiles.. But no one over here has a credible source or info about the same. As I have heard that China is have the same 5 S-400 for just 3 billion and India for whooping 6 billion... R we going crazier day by day like we shell off 8 billion for just 36 Rafael and still there r speculations of secret deals for Full TOT including tech know how, machining n tooling, scientific data. and lot many more. So r we following the same path for S-400 by shelling off more than it cost.

New Delhi (Sputnik) — Government sources told Sputnik that the crucial parts of the S-400 deal are in their final draft and the deal is expected to be signed by the first month of the next financial year in April 2017. India signed an agreement for the purchase of $4.5 billion worth of S-400 Triumph air defense systems during the annual meeting between India and Russia in Goa.

CICI securities stated that 90% of the budgeted defense spending goes towards payments for already announced projects. Last week, Manohar Parrikar, Indian Minister of Defense, indicated that country would sign defense deals worth close to $9 billion in next six months. Parrikar stated that during the past 23 months, India had signed contracts worth $ 34 billion.

Cry me a river :cry::cry:
LOL, Indians. Can't sallow facts.

Seriously mate! There has never been an international ban on anything. One should be a member of MTCR to avail offensive weaponry of over 300 odd km's, besides S-400 is a defensive weapon, technically you cannot attack a nation with S-400's.
Well, the Russian 400 km range is not an export version and neither is it available for such.

Its India who they are selling it to Mate !! The contract has been signed and the deliveries are scheduled to begin late next year.

“An intergovernmental agreement has been signed today, under which the Russian side has undertaken to deliver S-400 [to India],” the head of the Russian state-owned defense and technology conglomerate Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, told reporters, according to RT. Russia expects a $4.5 billion commercial contract to be signed by the middle of 2017. “We will then start preparing the contracts and I hope that in the first half of 2017 we will complete and sign these contracts and the production will start. I believe the delivery will begin somewhere in 2020,” Chemezov added.

You can be sure by 2020 the 40N6 will be exported to India, especially since it is an integral part of the S-400 system.

"One of the S-400’s new missiles is the so-called 40N6 SAM with an estimated operational range of 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) and an altitude of up to 185 kilometers (607,000 feet). The missile is reportedly capable of exo-atmospheric interception of intermediate-range ballistic missile warheads in their terminal phase. "

According to CEO of Russia’s ROSTEC Corp Sergey Chemezov.

India will have the most modern system for air defence that exists at present.

By 2020, you should see the systems beginning to be delivered. As far as the costs are concerned, these will be finalised in the contract itself.

Already DRDO made Air Defenses are placed in India.

Hearing conflicting reports of whether these systems will be air defense or complementary ballistic defense along with our indigenous ballistic shields to be used against Pak/Chinese missiles.

Which one is it? Or is it a mix of both?

40N6 has not been exported because Russia is a MTCR member. But fortunately so is India.

None of S400 deals, so far singed have been with MTCR countries.

There is quite a lot of price difference between Indian deal and Chinese deal, do you know why ?

. .
Maybe, but Turkey thought it was not worth their time and money.

We rejected it because Chinese didn't give the amount of tech transfer we wanted. I believe the performance was good enough in the price/performance category which is why it was 1st in the tender, however our number 1 priority was tech transfer. Anyways that's another topic.

India to go ahead with S-400 deal, despite US opposition

India to go ahead with S-400 deal, despite US opposition
02 Jun 2018

India has decided to go ahead with its purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia, despite opposition from the US, said defense ministry officials, on the condition of anonymity.

The agreement for the acquisition of the S-400s had already been reached in 2016, and just days back, India and Russia concluded price negotiations.

Here's more on the deal and its associated complications.

Details of the ongoings, as reported by sources
Details

The sources also said that the defense ministry would approach the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by PM Modi, for the nod to go ahead with the deal.

They added that the defense ministry, as of now, hadn't received any instructions to stall the deal in the wake of US warnings.

The deal for the five S-400 regiments costs a whopping Rs. 39,000cr.

What is a S-400 battery?
Fact

S-400 batteries consist of four transporter erector launchers (TELs), four launch tubes per TEL, advanced radar systems, and a command post. It can launch very long-range (400km), long-range (250km), medium-range (120km), and short-range (40km) missiles, and is one of the most advanced air defense systems.

The US warns of complications in military cooperation
US warning

Just days back, William Thornberry, the chairman of the powerful US House Armed Services Committee, warned about a "lot of concern in the US administration and Congress".

Additionally, he clarified that the deal was beyond the sanctions imposed on Russia under the CAATSA, but expressed hopes that India would consider its decision.

Failure to comply would cause 'complications' in India-US military cooperation, he warned.

William Thornberry's warning to India
Fact

"The acquisition of this technology will limit, I am afraid, the degree with which the United States will feel comfortable in bringing additional technology into whatever country we are talking about," Thornberry had said.

India to discuss US' reservations with the deal in July
India's response

India has taken note of Thornberry's warnings, and foreign minister Sushma Swaraj and defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman are slated to discuss the issue with their US counterparts Mike Pompeo and Jim Mattis on July 6, in Washington.

The dialogue between the two sides will focus on security concerns surrounding the deal, and will seek to avoid misunderstandings in otherwise close bilateral ties.

The possible fallout of going through with the deal
Fallout

While the imposition of US sanctions on India as a fallout of the deal is highly unlikely, the S-400 deal could adversely affect future US-India defense deals including the possible acquisition of US-made Predator drones.

Additionally, India's decision to go through with the deal could also be a setback to plans to establish joint military aircraft manufacturing facilities with the US.
