India deploys MR-SAM near northwestern borders with Pakistan

Future is all about air defense for any nation to stand in war. With cheap drones and rockets and urbanized war no one will be clear winner. Only deciding factor is power in sky. You take least amount of risk of casualties and keep hurting your enemy

. . .
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed an air-defence system known as the medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) near India's northwestern borders with Pakistan, an IAF source told Janes on 9 October .

The MRSAM – which is the domestic variant of the Indo-Israeli developed Barak-8 SAM system – is deployed at Air Force Station (AFS) Adampur in Jalandhar district, Punjab, the source added.

AFS Adampur is located nearly 100 km from the India-Pakistan border and is home to the IAF's 8 Wing, which is responsible for air defence.

The 8 Wing consists of No 47 and No 223 squadrons, which are primarily equipped with MiG-29UPG ‘Fulcrum' fighter aircraft.

In 2021 the IAF also deployed the Russian S-400 Triumf self-propelled SAM system at AFS Adampur.

The IAF began inducting MRSAM in September 2021, when the system was deployed at AFS Jaisalmer.

Janes reported at the time that the IAF plans to initially raise nine MRSAM squadrons comprising 24 MRSAM batteries – also referred to as firing units (FUs) – and a total of 2,000 Barak-8 missiles.

Apart from the IAF, the Indian Army raised its first MRSAM regiment in February along the line of actual control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh to provide air defence against Chinese aerial threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fighter aircraft, and cruise missiles.

A naval variant of the MRSAM system was earlier deployed on a few front-line Indian Navy warships. In March the Indian Navy also conducted its maiden MRSAM firing from INS Mormugao .

So much dreams--- inducting Russian older version of copied by Chinese Sam systems - celebrated as full joy.

That time people here forget that it will be useless for the same way .. people are talking against the Indian sam
Pakistani doctrine has always disliked SAMs, they have only been inducted in a supportive role unlike India's doctrine which depends on SAM as the main weapon.
The current war situation between Israel and Palestine, it is soild evidence that sam is not fullproof but very much effective.
Pakistan is not Palestine, Pakistan is more or less equal or superior to India in most domains, especially missiles.
India is going very good by creating layer of sam defence systems, within the next 4-5 years, it will be headache to any enemy if they want to enter in Indian airspace.... S 400 will be last use to protect the cities, first they would be needed to deal with various sam systems.
And that's all they are, a minor headache for PAF in the opening minutes of a war.

US patriot batteries locked on their own aircraft several times during the iraq war and gulf war.
How many times did the US 'misfire' and kill its own aircraft and personnel, let alone 'misfire' nuclear armed missiles into Russia?
PAF destroyed PNS Zulfiqar in a friendly fire incident
And yet India failed to achieve air superiority over West Pakistan... Also IAF bombed a Bengali orphanage and killed 500 mostly Hindu children, so...

Superior?????

Such thought process only caused losing all wars against india.

Look, if you Indians want to delude yourselves, you're more than welcome to humiliate yourselves by sending clowns like Abhinandan across the border to bomb trees.

Sure, everyone's know who is delude. Thanks

During the 1965 war, Indian AirForce Chief admitted that he cannot guarantee Indians safety from the Pakistan AirForce.
This PAF legacy lives on thus even in 2019, Indian PM had to resort to Missile threats against Pakistan as he also realised that the IAF once again spectacularly failed to deliver or defend. Alas, India has no other choice other than to rely on Airdefence systems widely.
BTW, how many countries openly disclose that they have deployed XYZ on such a such locations.

The role of Indian Air Force is to secure the Indian airspace and provide air defence against hostile aircrafts and missiles. It is also working to provide Ballistic Missile Defence.

Here, I have listed down most of the systems used by IAF to provide the air defence.

Akash SRSAM: 25 to 40 km
Protection of air bases. Acting as the second line of defence
Quantity: 15 squadrons

Spyder QRSAM: 15 to 50 km
Quick reaction system for protection of vulnerable points
Quantity: 04 squadrons

MRSAM/Barak-8: 70 to 110 km
Protection of vulnerable areas and key military installations by providing area air defence.
Quantity: 24 FUs

Akash NG: 80 km
Low Level Quick Reaction system for protection of air bases and vulnerable points. It will supplement the Spyder.
Quantity: 7 to 10 squadrons*

Pechora: 15 to 20SRSAM for protection of airbases and key military installations. It will be replaced by MRSAM + Akash NG.
Quantity: 25 squadrons

S-400: 250 to 400 km
Long range area air defence and air space denial.
Quantity: 5 squadrons

AAD: Part of the BMD Network Phase -1.
Endo-atmospheric missile against the 1500km range targets.

PDV: Part of the BMD Network Phase-1. Exo-atmospheric missile against the 3000km range targets.

PDV MK-2: ASAT missile. It can neutralize targets in the space orbit.

AD-1: Part of BMD Network Phase-2. Endo-atmospheric missile against the 5000 km range targets.

AD-2: Part of BMD Network Phase-2. Exo-atmospheric missile against the 5000 km range targets.

ERSAM: Part of ERADS system. Long range area air defence and air space denial. Quantity: 7 squadrons*

XRSAM: Part of ERADS system. Long range area air defence and air space denial. Quantity– 7 squadrons*

AA Guns: Protection of air bases by acting as the last line of defence.
Quantity: 244*

VSHORADS: Man-portable system against helicopters, UAV, and slow-moving aircrafts.

Aside from the systems mentioned above some other systems are also available but I am not sure if they are still in service or not and what is their exact quantity. They are:
S-200
S-300
Kub (SA-6 Gainful)
9K33 Osa (SA-8 Gecko)
Upgraded Bofors L70
9K338 Igla-S

Some systems which might find their way in IAF:
Truck based VL-SRSAM
DEW

Stop being a fool, we croosed the border and throw bombs near to Indian army facilities to show you guys dont fk with us.
To be honest, technically we dropped bombs within Pakistan (Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir) while India bombed area which they don't claim as Indian territory.

.
No, it is the other way around :woot:
Cheers:-
