As for NATO, nobody would like to sacrifice its soldiers and resources for another nation. Do you think France would like to sacrifice its soldiers to save, say, Britain? Or vice versa? It's all about the commitment. That commitment is the real source of the deterrence of NATO which is why nobody including Russia even DARED to challange that commitment. And unlike Chinese wet dreams, they won't in the foreseeable future.

Alright Turkey is a superpower and Russia can't dare to challenge them. Is that what you want to hear?

Hiding behind America is easy, as Georgia, the Philippines and Ukraine found out.

The Philippines has a full "mutual defence treaty" with America, yet America sat back and laughed as the Philippines lost territory to China in 2012.

America nowadays avoids direct conflicts with major powers 100% of the time. They would rather send their pawns to fight, and refuse to back them up if there is any chance of a direct conflict.

America benefits, because their pawns become even more dependent on them. Russia benefits, because they gain large amounts of territory. It's the pawns who lose out, every single time.
