Several Egyptian military and security officials say there are no survivors from the Russian passenger plane carrying 224 people that crashed into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

The officials all spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media. Aviation experts have reached the crash site near the city of el-Arish.

Officials say all the victims in Saturday’s Metrojet plane crash were Russian citizens.

A statement carried by Egypt’s state-run MENA news agency says the plane took off from Sinai’s Sharm el-Sheikh, a popular destination for Russian tourists, at 5.51 a.m. (local time) on Saturday and disappeared from radar screens 23 minutes after takeoff.

Russian aviation regulator says no grounds yet for any theory about airliner crash: RIA| Reuters

Russian aviation regulator Rosaviatsia said on Saturday that it didn't yet see any reason to blame the crash of a Russian airliner in Egypt on a technical failure, an error by the crew or external actions, RIA news agency reported.

"Until there is reliable evidence about the circumstances of what happened, there is no sense in putting forward and discussing any versions," RIA quoted Rosaviatsia as saying in a statement.

the first thing which came to my mind when i heard the news was "shot down" only recently russia was allegedly blamed to have shot down a passenger plane which it says the rebels did, the motive which came to my mind was "revenge" ... i hope my theories are wrong and it was a technical glitch .... good thing in this devastating situation is that it crashed on the ground and it won't be problem to get blackbox and figure out the reason for crash

Oh Oh, Sinai ISIS uploaded grainy cell phone footage of moment plane was shot down....Won't post out of respect for victims but it appears to be not too big of a jet and definitely is shot down. We can't know if this footage is from something else or edited clip of a mix of several videos.

If true, this provides us with an excellent reason test our Novichok weapons on live targets.
